Chasing Two Hares

Is it urgent to do this today? It's actually 4:15 AM in the morning in Ukraine, and, while being a little insomniac I'm horrified of how much to do with this here and I don't know whether I will force myself to do this to finish the article already, or not... :( --Kloga (talk) 21:16, 14 December 2013 (EST)

Thanks. I'll do exactly that when I finish a few minor contributions I've started before noticing your warning about Chasing Two Hares (Za dvumya zaytsami)... --Kloga (talk) 21:43, 14 December 2013 (EST)
Well, I'm tried to crop the pictures... And failed. First of all this crappy transfer letterbox is hard to exorcise from the picture because the picture itself is just not right placed. That's not to mention the fact that screen-within-the-screen pictures were hard. I still tried and crop the picture despite loosing a little bit of a screenshot itself. Now I've uploaded it... And they're the same pictures. I don't know how and what glitched. --Kloga (talk) 14:15, 15 December 2013 (EST)

Cyborg

So it's possible to re-write the article normally and include Tippman paintball gun to Air Guns? --Kloga (talk) 11:21, 14 December 2013 (EST)

I'll re-watch and then will say more. I remember that Tippman marker (very first semi-automatic paintball gun on the market, by the way) was used by at least three characters and a few others also carried handguns. --Kloga (talk) 11:35, 14 December 2013 (EST)

Animation credits

Sorry for that, I was repeating a mistake because there are a few films which have animation mixed with live action whihc really has actors. So what shell we do in this situation? It's even more sticky, considering that it was not only voice acting but also motion capture performed by the same actors in case of Rango. --Kloga (talk) 17:50, 9 December 2013 (EST)

I'm okay with it but there's also another problem - what to do with episode thing? It's partially because Animation subsection is under-used, but also Anime subsections sometimes fell to this exact problems. I'm writing down the name of the episode in "Notes", dividing it with ";" if there are any other notes, but some people list season-episode thing in the "Title", dividing it with "/". Which is right? Or, perhaps, there's no canon for this yet?.. --Kloga (talk) 19:27, 9 December 2013 (EST)

IZH-38

I'm somewhat eager to report that I have found a movie where IZH-38 was used, so I'll adding it back. --Kloga (talk) 19:22, 30 November 2013 (EST)

Black boarders

I've replaced the file for Sternwood walks into bar and fires steyr.jpg with one without boarders, but the original is still showing on the welcome to the punch page can you help? thanks. yeah sorry my computers messed up at the moment cant actually get any HD trailers up but i should be able to this evening i'm getting my laptop back and thats fine. here is the ulr for the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr-O_v0mlx8 and heres the second url if you need it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8VLeJbekKk statichunter

Error

Hi, I did an error with this file: http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/File:Mabuse_dreyse_00.jpg The preview image in the article is wrong but when you click on it, it displays the right image. Please look into this. Thank you. --Wicket1138 (talk) 18:29, 18 October 2012 (EDT)

I want to keep the one with the desk. Thx. --Wicket1138 (talk) 18:44, 18 October 2012 (EDT)

Heya

You want me to archive your talk page? Also, what do you think of the work I've been doing on that other Goldeneye? It's amazing how much of the stuff on the page before was either totally wrong or only true of one version or the other. Evil Tim 09:56, 14 August 2012 (CDT)

Eh, 90 subsections is a pretty big page. I think most of the grief was because people claimed the original was next-gen graphics when actually it looks a lot like Black running on PS2. My current device is a Hauppage! (yes, with the exclaimation) HD-PVR, using component leads for input; it's completely useless for composite, mind, so I've still got my Pinnacle Dazzle if I need to record anything PS2 or earlier. It can theoretically record 1080p but it looks like ass in motion to stop you using it to copy blu-ray discs, so it's best to leave it on 720. The Hauppage one also has the advantage that it's actually designed for recording games and so has component video pass-through, so you don't have to build a snake's nest of wires and splitters to play without recording lag. Evil Tim 10:12, 14 August 2012 (CDT)
Actually I just realised the most ridiculous thing about that game: they forgot to make Dam a flashback and just have the story carry straight on after it. So Alec manages to set up the entire Janus organisation and builds a massive power station in roughly one day.Evil Tim 01:06, 15 August 2012 (CDT)
Well, it's not like EA didn't try that too (and unlike GoldenEye: Rogue Agent Activision's game actually has something to do with the original movie), it's just they tried to bring it up to date in a way that makes no actual sense. I guess it's because it was written by a Hollywood screenwriter who wasn't used to the games industry's alarming tendency to accept first script drafts (the co-writer of the original movie script, apparently) because it has all the signs of a script which hasn't had enough editorial work done on it; from the aformentioned turbo-terrorism to forgetting to give Alec the scar the entire Janus group is named after to Ourumov stealing an EMP-hardened helicopter when he already has one. Evil Tim 08:54, 15 August 2012 (CDT)

KillerUzi

Eh, he's not going to magically become a decent human being in six months, I've made it infinite. Evil Tim 20:23, 16 August 2012 (CDT)

And it turns out all of the were Liam. Fancy that. Evil Tim 08:23, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
Yeah, but he remembers that whole "Jamal pick my cotton" thing from back when Liam went nuts and started e-stalking Excalibur after the Killzone page was deleted. He's insulting Zackmann for giving him a new account after we banned the other two last night and that one he used earlier. Evil Tim 08:42, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
Naw, I think it's just the same guy it always was. Liam always made useless pages, that's why he was banned originally. So he loses two accounts he's "contributing" with, digs out an old one he remembered the password for, then has to register a new one. Insulting Zachmann is because he totally beat us by being mildly inconveniant for a few minutes.
I've modded a site with about ten thousand active members (not saying which :D), and I can tell you for free: people do get this weird and obsessive about having a right to be there even though all they do is make a mess when they actually have that "right." We had one guy posting spam dozens of accounts a day for hours at a time, for most of a year. Evil Tim 08:59, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
Anyway, I have to go to sleep now, so keep an eye out. Evil Tim 09:09, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
I think the most likely answer is that Gunner95 isn't the same guy, and is just a completely different idiot (it's not like the world is experiencing a shortage) with the similarities being coincidental. Or it's just one of his many personalities. Either way, I wouldn't bother unbanning Gunner95 to find out. In other news, playing GoldenEye I've realised the most ridiculous firearm-related thing is that Bond has to draw his weapon when breaching doors. So, um, he holsters his weapon, kicks open a door to a room full of armed men, and then tries to pull it back out. And with anything but a pistol does it so slowly that the bad guys are already shooting at him by the time he can fire.
I just get the image of the guards standing there looking embarassed for him as Daniel Craig bursts in dramatically and starts struggling with a carry strap tangled around his arm or something. Anyway, off to bed. Evil Tim 09:25, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Spam

So spam has dramatically decreased lately as a result of the new system put in place by Bunni but we still have the occasional jerk who gets through. For future reference, if anyone does start doing stuff like our pal Weston1911 did, will you message me? I am compiling a "blacklist" that includes the e-mail and IP the user used when they registered. It will help prevent them from registering in the future. Thanks man! --Zackmann08 10:33, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Ok. Explain something to me... WTF is CloudFare?!?!?! I keep seeing that with IP addresses on the forum! --Zackmann08 10:39, 17 August 2012 (CDT)
Gotcha. I just don't get how a user gets an IP address from CloudFare and not from their own computer... Weirdddd --Zackmann08 10:55, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

BAHAHAHAHAH!!! That Biography reads like it was written by a third grader... LOVE IT! I can't believe this is the same brat who kept trying to make a page for "The House on Creepy Lane".... UGHHHH. Thanks for the info. --Zackmann08 22:41, 18 August 2012 (CDT)

No kidding... --Zackmann08 23:59, 18 August 2012 (CDT)

You were right to ban that ten year old

Brilliant detective work. I think there should be a LOWER age limit. "Violent Shit"? "The House on Creepy Lane?" How on earth did this kid get his short films listed on IMDB?? The mods must have been asleep that day. Wasn't there a link to a film that was basically RUSSIAN elementary school kids acting some sort of story with airsoft guns? I wonder if you remember that. best regards MoviePropMaster2008 01:13, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

Even though Violent Shit and Zombie Panic 90 were purportedly full length features, there is NO WAY a feature length film made by a 10 year old would qualify under our current criteria. It would be near impossible. It would have to be distributed by someone OTHER than the film's maker and there is no way a 10 year old could make something that was deemed professional enough to merit inclusion. My comment about the lower age limit, was just sarcasm. I agree that it would be hard to enforce. We just have to be wary of any new member that seems really young. At least this guy was honest about his age. The fact that he was born AFTER 9/11 means he has never known a world without Usama Bin Laden and his ilk MoviePropMaster2008
BTW, there is a restriction in Privacy policy: "Our site is not directed to children under the age of 13". So any membership of 10 years old (regardless of his behavior) is a violation of rules, right? Greg-Z 12:41, 19 August 2012 (CDT)
Hmmmmm. Good catch Greg-Z. I am certainly intrigued by this idea. Also to Funkychinaman, Thanks for the update. I didn't know what these movies were, and I'm not ashamed to say I've never seen them (which is saying a lot). There are a lot of films distributed by low rent direct to video types (like Sub Rosa) which I'm not thrilled to include. BTW, Funkychinaman do you remember the link to the movie in the snow with the assault rifles made by the Bulgarian kids? I was laughing so hard when I saw that, and then it was gone.... 15:18, 20 August 2012 (CDT)

Under 13s

It's a legal thing, if I recall correctly; below a certain age a site effectively has a requirement to babysit users, which is why most sites which have account registration won't take accounts by anyone under 12 (most TOSes have a clause like that). Evil Tim 12:58, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

I'd ask Bunni, he's the one who'd be dealing with any legal issues after all. Evil Tim 13:01, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

Expendables 2: Videogame

The Democratic Terrorist

Hi Funkychinaman! I've now uploaded some quite good quality pictures of the gun used by Monica in TDT (DDT). I still honestly can't say if it's a PPK, that I belived before, and do a bit now to, or a SIG-Sauer P230. I've also uploaded two new pictures of a P230 on it's discussion page, it's the two latter ones, they are blued. On those pictures an older SIG is pressented and that might be what Monica's gun is, based on the slide serrations. But please look and think for you're self, as two minds is better than one! (Thejoker)

Re DDT

I totally forgot that she had the same pistol in the final scene. And for the record, I only used the stainless pistols because at the time, those were the only pair of PP and P230 images that pointed to the right. --Funkychinaman 18:33, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

Well do you still think its a SIG-Sauer P230 and not a Walther PPK? If you do I think so I think we should go with it on the page. Thejoker 18:53, 19 August 2012 (CDT)

"Go Tell the Spartans" Mauser identification.

In the first pic the Old Man is definitely holding a Gewehr 98. It sill has the large Lange-Visier rear sight and the bolt handle is at the rear of the receiver, rather than in the middle as on the M71/84. The second pic could be a M71/84; the front sight looks right and the stock appears to contain a tubular magazine. The third pic looks like a Mosin-Nagant 91/30, with the long spacing between the two barrel bands and what looks like the "dog collar" sling loops going through the stock. It might also be a Lebel 1886, but the stock bulging downward as it nears the receiver makes me think Mosin. I think these are probably continuity errors. I really wish we could see the receiver better. I hope this helps.

Thanks for help!

Once again I want to thank you for help. When I have problems with identification, your help is very valuable. Greg-Z 01:16, 28 August 2012 (CDT)

Re: Update

Yes. I had totally forgot about the existence of the page. I still got the screencaps on my PC. But it'll take some time to get it done, I've got a couple of pages on queue right now, and I'm currently on leave from the army. Altough, I'm going back today, our leisure time is limited. I'll do my best to get it finished soon. Best Regards, --Warejaws 08:17, 28 August 2012 (CDT)

'Redirects in 'Elephant White'

Hi, sorry to get back to you so late but I don't have the luxury to check/edit IMFDB on a very regular basis. On my TalkPage you said you put 'redirects' in the page for Elephant White that I created, and asked me to do the same. Stupid question maybe, but what exactly do you mean here? Pardon my ignorance but I value your experience on these matters, --PeeWee055 15:27, 29 August 2012 (CDT)

RE:Beat me to it.

I think this guy needs to be kept an eye on, as that Italian he used is suspiciously exactly what comes out of Google translate if you put in the English text so I have a slight suspicion it may be someone pretending to be Italian just to mess stuff up. --commando552 (talk) 12:38, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

Hello, I wanted to start the article about the TV series Farscape. When I tried to create this article I got the following warning: "Warning: You are recreating a page that was previously deleted. Monika's Gun

Sorry if I can't let it go but I still think Monika's gun in The Democratic Terrorist is a Walther PPK, I've added my observations and explanations to the talk page so will you please read them and look at it and tell me what you think about it. Thejoker (talk) 16:28, 11 December 2012 (EST)

Well about the Walther P5, if you look closely on that screencap you might see that the front of that gun appear to have the same shape as that of a P5, sort of like a triangular shape up to the barrel. Don't you agree? I'm interested in what you think. Also have you read the new stuff I wrote about Monika's pistol on the talk page with the pictures and explanations of why I see it as a PPK, what do you think about it? Thejoker (talk) 18:57, 11 December 2012 (EST)
Now I have put up variants of the pictures that point out the details of the gun/guns in the pictures with colored lines, I hope you can spot them now. It's furthest down on the entry "Monika's Pistol". Do you see it now? Thejoker (talk) 20:46, 11 December 2012 (EST)
Can you see the details I pointed out in the new photos with Monika's guns? Thejoker (talk) 16:16, 12 December 2012 (EST)

Okey, yea outside opinions are probably a good thing, well tell me when you've got their opinion. Thejoker (talk) 05:06, 13 December 2012 (EST)

I haven't thought about it or seen it before and I CAN'T say that a can definatly see it now, but if I watch closely on this picture there might be an allusion to a safety/decocker on the slide there, but I'm not shure because the image isn't clear/sharp enough.
Have you heard any outside opinins yet? What does other people think? Thejoker (talk) 11:37, 17 December 2012 (EST)

Too Soon?

As seen in the recent changes page Im preparing to make a page for the movie "Higher Learning". While the film has themes of neo-nazism, and the like (which several other movies on the site have) there is a scene where a school shooting takes place. I was wondering if the page should be held off for a while due to the tragedy in Connecticut since some might say it would be too soon for a page with a similar event. I will still upload photos but if it is decided that it is too soon then I will save the progress I have made into notepad and make the page at a later date.Mr.Ice (talk) 22:27, 16 December 2012 (EST)

RE: Red Heat

I do understand the weapon was discussed on the Red Heat discussion page but clearly the gun is not a S&W 66 its not even a .357!

RE: Incomplete

I would love to complete Razorback and The Collector. However, I do not own copies of them. I will try to obtain copies eventually, but I need to start saving money as I am going to be starting my second semester of my freshman year of college in January.

Blackthorn, I pretty much got everything I.D.'d, except for the unknowns. I believe the Bolivian boy is using a Colt 1878 Double Action, and the other revolver is a Colt Lightning. And the Bolivian Army's rifle is, I am assuming, the vz. 24 rifle or FN Model 1924 short rifle. But I don't really want to speculate as the article's screencaps are the best ones I got. And I do not want to go and, pardon my French, "half-ass" it by just putting up a firearm that looks like a "close enough match", and wait for a more knowledgable user to go and update the page for me.

I'll go and make the changes though. - User:1morey December 26, 2012 8:23 PM (EST)

Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen - Mauser Identification

Wow, this is a tough one to ID. It appears to be a Chinese M1907 Mauser. These were originally chambered in a proprietary 6.8x58mm Chinese cartridge. These rifles were manufactured in Germany and China. When WW1 broke out the Germans seized all M1907 rifles still in the country and re-barrelled them for 7.9x57mm Mauser.--Stomper (talk) 15:08, 30 December 2012 (EST)

To be honest I wouldn't mind adding a little section at the end of actor pages just to list other works they've contributed to for the sake of completeness and giving full credit; IIRC the rule exists to stop, say, an actor list getting clogged with every weapon in an FPS even though the actor probably never handled any of them (same with mocap where the weapons are usually plastic replicas (Uncharted III) or crude frames (Battlefield 3)), but I don't think a little "name of work" - "role" - "character" table would be a terrible thing to have (eg Chow Yun-Fat would have Stranglehold - Voice acting, motion capture - Inspector "Tequila" Yuen). What am I doing wrong? Am I not incorporating enough data? What is it? --KLange (talk) 16:14, 18 January 2013 (EST)

"Did you consider that page complete?" Of course not, but I planned on creating a bare bones type of page, to which other people who saw the mini could add on. "And probably most important, how is anyone suppose to watch this or get screen captures if it's never gotten a DVD release?" It's on YouTube, if you're interested. --KLange (talk) 04:56, 19 January 2013 (EST)

Some pages from Incomplete category

Hi! I have examined Incomplete category (searching for the pages that I'll be able to complete), and it seems to me that there are several pages that look complete and can be removed from Incomplete. Here is the list of these pages. Maybe you will have a little time to look on them and make a decision: 1968 Tunnel Rats; All Quiet on the Western Front (1930); Escape to Witch Mountain; Infestation; Machine Gun Preacher; One in the Chamber; Outrage; Over the Edge; Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; Race to Witch Mountain; Reform School Girls; Road, The; Texas Killing Fields; Transporter 2; Winter's Bone. Greg-Z (talk) 01:08, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Thank you for clarification. It's a pity that so much pages are still incomplete, but I now understand clearly why they are in this category. Greg-Z (talk) 02:03, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Skyfall

Got those shots up; can't say I have any idea what it is, but it does very closely match the best image we have from the movie and it looks bulky enough to be built around a real weapon action.

Also to elaborate on what I said there; you fight Patrice in an empty, unfurnished office with glass dividers, but the glass doors are indestructible. Since they only give you the P99 (which is, you know, totally the right thing to do when there's an actual PPK model in the game) you spend most of your time ducking around an indestructible door firing off entire magazines at him while he either shoots at you from ten yards away with a laser-sighted sniper rifle or throws grenades at you, seemingly ignoring the glass dividers to do so.

I'm going to be putting the first part of the Goldfinger mission up on my Youtube channel soon because it's hilariously awful. The melee gimmick has to be seen to be believed. Evil Tim (talk) 11:18, 22 January 2013 (EST)

Incompletes

Well, I think that somebody has to complete such pages. :) It's a pity to see them in such condition, so I do what I can. I'm working now on Shadow Man which is also in poor condition. Greg-Z (talk) 00:05, 23 January 2013 (EST)

Page creation

Hi there, thanks for your remark, good point. I guess the way I do this the way I do it, is simply that I just hate to see movie pages with links in 'red', usually these are pages where people don't follow through with what they have started. As you guessed correctly, I first prepare all links and when I put the movie-page online, it's all nice and clean from the start. Good point about saving time through suggestions though, I will take care to reverse my actions from my next movie, --PeeWee055 (talk) 14:32, 26 January 2013 (EST)

Thanks for the encouraging remark about the red links. Thing is that I feel that if you create a page on IMFDB you don't leave loose ends and also correctly complete the 'boring' work like actor/gun pages. Anyway, guess that's the Wiki aspect of the whole thing :-), --PeeWee055 (talk) 15:09, 26 January 2013 (EST)

AKS

I put this on Zackmann08s discussion page but I haven't got any answer, maybe he has not read it yet I don't know. So now I ask you as you are also an administrator. May this picture and information be added to the main AK-47 page? The picture is of what was officially designated as a Облегченный 7,62-мм автомат Калашникова со складным прикладом (АКС), translated to Lightweight 7.62 mm automatic Kalashnikov with a folding stock (AKS), and what is referred to in the West as an AK-47 Type III.

Zulu Dawn

Hi there, good to see you again. NV is indeed something Dutch, it means something like 'Limited' and describes a legal way a company is organized. Being Dutch, I was checking the category 'Dutch produced' and I removed this movie because in my view there's nothing 'Dutch' to it. The only Dutch connection is probably for tax reasons or something. However, checking the Style Guide, I noticed I was wrong, so I will make that movoe again 'Dutch' no matter how strange that seems to me as a Dutch person. Sorry, --PeeWee055 (talk) 03:22, 30 January 2013 (EST)

Yup, The Outsider had me wondering as well. Let's just go with the 'production rule-of-thumb', even if it's not perfect. After all, it's about the guns, right? Take care, --PeeWee055 (talk) 16:05, 30 January 2013 (EST)

Real guns in movies?

You use in the U.S. real functional guns in movies? For us it was formerly under the communists, too. Today, but that's not allowed. Then there was the Army Film and they had a special permit. In the current legislation, are allowed to holding of guns only for the police, soldiers (automatic weapons then never individually, only under command) and persons with special permission (never automatic!), which the filmmakers are not. Therefore For us it is not possible, that the boy home took a submachine gun and went to shoots the whole school.--Pandolfini (talk) 05:04, 7 February 2013 (EST) Certainly he's right, these replicas may fires, but can not use live ammunition. BTW: Leon is here no as "The Professional", but "Leon: The Professional". It is unnecessary duplicated information. Widescreen 600px

I thought it was accepted that High Quality screencaps for Widescreen films in the "2.35 to 1", "1.85 to 1" or "16x9" aspect ratio get only up to 600px. "Square" 4x3 aspect ratio gets up to 500px depending on the quality of the screencap. --Ben41 (talk) 19:21, 10 February 2013 (EST)

I believe it probably should stay at 600px to avoid any confusion and that the fact that the majority of the widescreen films on the site only go up to 600px. Typically, non 2.35 to 1 films were given 500px, but with the advent of more HD and Blu-ray caps, bumping up to 600px was logical. You mentioned in the forum that 700px makes non HD widescreen films appear to be lower in resolution and I agree. There are rare exceptions for films that were shot in an ultra widescreen format like Cinerama (such as How the West Was Won or Battle of the Bulge). --Ben41 (talk) 19:45, 10 February 2013 (EST)\

Colt New Line

Hi Funckychinaman. You linked Belgian Bulldog Pocket Revolver (a red link for the moment) in the Rachel McAdams page. This is ok since the gun appears in the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film. I think the .32 Bulldog was an English gun, not Belgian, but that's not the point. The point is that, I guess, a red link allows the creation of the corresponding article.... and the link Colt New Line was red before I've created it (and even before I've created my IMFDB account). Indeed, the gun is listed and linked (with its corresponding photogram) in the article refering to the Deadwood television series (please, check "Colt New Line" in the Deadwood article and let me point out that the link Colt New Line and the mention of the gun were not due to my own action, they already existed before my arrival on this wiki). The caliber configuration in the Deadwood episode is the .22, so I find it's ok if you delete the article about the .38 caliber configuration (that one, and please, note that it was not created by me), but the article about the gun itself, Colt New Line, should be created since it is linked in the article about the Deadwood TV series, where it can be seen on screen. Regards. Kintaro (talk) 09:01, 2 March 2013 (EST)

Ok then, roger roger :). I've created the apropriated link, here, and I added it to the corresponding line in the Colt's Manufacturing Company article. Now, if you agree, I suggest to delete this and this, since they are non-suitable pages. Cheers! Kintaro (talk) 23:12, 4 March 2013 (EST)

Re: Total Recall

I'm doing the page, and the shots are, even though hi-res, from trailers. I'm re-uppin' them to keep consitency over the images of the page, ie. so that if one picture doesn't have a blue stint, the others don't have that too. I always do that, no matter what page, if there are trailer shots from ages ago, i reupload them. Look at Paul's history, same thing. Like you once said, there needs to be consistency on the database, and I think that needs to be the case with the pages, too. --Warejaws (talk) 12:09, 10 March 2013 (EDT)

Adding a Swedish named film (featuring non-english characters)

Hey! I want to add an entry for a 1979 cult Swedish movie named "Repmånad", which is roughly translated as "(army) refresher course". In Sweden we used to have a system of yearly conscription which saw thousands of people drafted and trained every year for a 7-15 month military service period. This movie is a sort of parody on the required month of "refresher training" those former conscripts had to do several years after their discharge from the army. The problem is, I dont know if I should create an article with the original Swedish name of the movie: "Repmånad", as it contains a swedish unique (Å) letter. A further problem is I also dont know of an English translation of "Repmånad"...So what do you think? Should I try and find an alternative translation or can I use a Swedish one? Dudester32 15:53, 11 March 2013 (EDT)

I had never seen the IMDB version until now. I think I can make it work with "The Callup" as a primary article name, with "Repmånad" as a redirect. Dudester32 16:10, 11 March 2013 (EDT)
Roger that! Too bad there isnt a bluray version out yet, but I'll make do with the DVD version! Thanks for yer help dude! Dudester32 16:44, 11 March 2013 (EDT)

How come some of the pages I've created aren't in their categories. Like when I'm not logged in I don't see the page that I made in the categories sections.

Examples, would be like the page "Zombie-Loan" when I go to the anime category. I don't see "Zombie-Loan" and I even put [[Category:Anime]], but it only shows up in the anime categories when I'm logged in.

Spy Who Loved Me

Hi, wanted to consult you about something. After looking around for a while I've started to think that Jaws revolver could be an 1970s model (Tapered barrel and no ejector shroud) Charter Arms Bulldog in caliber .357 with a 6 inch. But I've checked around and I'm a bit confused. Wikipedia says that the Bulldog only had barrel lengths of either 2.5 or 2.2 inches but I've found pictures of Bulldogs with 6 inch barrels. I know Wikipedia isn’t to be trusted but still. Also, do you know the difference between the Bulldog and the Target Bulldog models. If the Target Bulldog was the ones made available with 6 inch barrels it might be that model. What do you think? --Thejoker (talk) 08:13, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

I don't know if their the same I just assumed that. But they appear to be~the same based on their overall shape and appearance. The only other revolver type I've found that has a similar shape in the frame as Jaws revolver, maybe even more so than the Bulldog actually, is some of the make Astra. But they all appear to have shrouded ejector rods and none of the ones I've found have tapered barrels and that style of front sight. --Thejoker (talk) 11:23, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

His revolver does actually have a LOT in common with an Astra .357 Magnum revolver. See this link:

[[1]]

The only thing that's of is the front sight and that the ejector rod on Jaws revolver appears to be only semi-shrouded if you understand what I mean. Maybe (it’s possible, and I don't know the reason for such a modification) they had sawed or filed away the part of the shroud that covered the ejector rod on the sides but kept the front of it. --Thejoker (talk) 11:39, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

Okey, no I haven’t but I'll do that right now, thanks very much for the tip!

Another thing, the shape of the muzzle of Sandor's gun as he's about to shoot doesn't look like the muzzle of a M1911A1. I don't know what it is, maybe a Colt Model 1903/1908 or a FN Browning 1903, but as you can only see the muzzle I don't know. But a M1911A1 it ain’t. Ideas? --Thejoker (talk) 12:12, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

Here's a link to a photo of the muzzle of a Pocket Hammerless in .32 acp and a photo of Sandor's gun, do you think look think they could be the same? --Thejoker (talk) 12:35, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

Original language title in parentheses necessary?

Is it really necessary to have the original language in parentheses for such movies as Code Name Coq Rouge (Täcknamn Coq Rouge), Olsen Gang, The (Olsen-banden), Olsen Gang Runs Amok, The (Olsen-banden går amok), Olsen Gang in Jutland, The (Olsen-banden i Jylland), Olsen Gang in a Fix, The (Olsen-banden på spanden), and Last Exploits of the Olsen Gang, The (Olsen-bandens sidste bedrifter)? The English titles are an exact translate of the original language title just like in other movies like Democratic Terrorist, The where the english title is used alone. I mean it just makes the titles extremely long and when you search for them you have to put in the whole name to come directly to the page. --Thejoker (talk) 09:34, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

Should I delete one of the Blood-C

I recently just notice that Blood-C and Blood-C: The Last Dark are pretty much the same in the content and there's not much guns, so I thought of putting the content of Blood-C: The Last Dark to the page Blood-C.

So is it possible to destroy the page Blood-C: The Last Dark that I made. Also is my content for Blood-C: The Last Dark is going to get deleted, I don't want that to happen.

IMDB links added on my pages

Thanks for removing the IMDB links, I missed your message last night and I was going to do that myself this morning. As to why I started to add them, I seem to have misunderstood Zackmann08's message of 12th March. I thought he objected to 'automatically' trying to add links to all (!) pages and I thought it was okay to do that manually on one's own pages. Thanks for making me aware, PeeWee055 (talk) 02:55, 23 April 2013 (EDT)

Screenshot page

Just wanted to say you're doing a great job with the screencapping page. Thanks! Did you ever use the screen capture button at the top right? Sometimes when I'm screencapping streaming video, I'll just capture "Foreground Window" and crop out everything except the pertinent information. --Ben41 (talk) 06:32, 24 April 2013 (EDT)

The "Crop Board" button is also at the top (it's next to the button that looks like a tree. If a user is capping multiple images as PNG's, one can then use the "Batch Convert Selected Images" command (right under "Tools" column) to convert several images to JPG's. The user can then rename all the images at the same time. If a user just wants to rename several images, the "Batch Rename" command also is under "Tools". --Ben41 (talk) 08:50, 24 April 2013 (EDT)
Definitely taking the PNG first and then converting to JPG makes a higher resolution screenshot. When saving as a JPG in VLC, I've found that it's compressed way too much. --Ben41 (talk) 16:13, 24 April 2013 (EDT)

M1C photo change

Thanks for calling me on the etiquette/standard procedures. It is, in fact, the wrong gun that is currently pictured as an M1C. I'll reupload the correct image with a unique filename.

Mission: Impossible

I noticed that you put some more images up for Mission: Impossible (TV Series). Do you plan on putting up more for Season 1? Are you planning to split the seasons up? Do you have images from other seasons? --Ben41 (talk) 23:10, 25 April 2013 (EDT)

If it would make it faster for you, I can start dividing it up and delete out the non-Season 1 weapons. That way you'll just have to add the missing weapons. If not, let me know.--Ben41 (talk) 23:31, 25 April 2013 (EDT)

Blood Dragon

I can tell you pretty much exactly why it exists, since it's fairly easy to figure it out. They've been kind of struggling to come up with a DLC idea since the plot of FC3 is rather hard to follow up on and doesn't really have any side-stories that don't involve appeasing Vaas' incredibly creepy fanbase. One of the big things that comes up again and again when people discuss it, though, is a DLC where you get to hunt dinosaurs. I guess the game started as an April Fools' joke making fun of how silly the idea was, but then someone pointed out that since people, you know, wanted the game and they were having a blast making it, they might as well finish it off. Hence you get a Far Cry 3 stand-alone add-on that has absolutely no plot connection to the main game. Evil Tim (talk) 03:27, 2 May 2013 (EDT)

Thing is, I don't think United Offensive should have its own page either if Warhead doesn't. If I ever get around to overhauling the early CoD pages I can assure you it won't have it's own page afterwards. Evil Tim (talk) 16:11, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
I think you could compare it to, say, Zombies mode in the Treyarch CoD games (which has its own plot, albeit one nobody cares about, unique weapons not found in other modes, and some unique art assets) or Metal Gear Online (which was released as a standalone game in Japan). I just don't think five new weapons with all the others taken directly from the main game warrants a whole page to itself. Evil Tim (talk) 02:27, 3 May 2013 (EDT)
I think there isn't any technical reason why you couldn't release Zombies as a standalone (though it'd be a hassle to check, I think in both Blops games you can uninstall the singleplayer on PC and Zombies still works), they just haven't. It's technically six weapons (mounted and portable minigun) plus a seventh which is a ninja star that shoots lasers, so obviously that's an MP7, we don't need to tell people that. The rest (C4, grenade, bow, mines and flamethrower, I think that's everything) is copied straight from the main game. Evil Tim (talk) 03:47, 4 May 2013 (EDT)

HD Images

Hey, Funky, you guys are so wrong.

My Battle Cry images were taken from a used DVD; the film isn't even available on Blu-ray. Before you guys start piling on, you might want to try to hear what I am saying.

Hell, no. I live in Southern California. I thought VLC could only capture DVD images, not Blu-ray. Am I wrong?
I have a Toshiba laptop with a Blu-ray disc player and a high resolution screen. I take screen shots from that and then process the images through Photoshop of color and contrast correction. I do not increase the size of the screenshot.
When I get home this afternoon I will post the original, un-retouched screenshot so you can see for yourself.
I really don't appreciate the Commando inferring that I am a liar. Surely there are rules regarding decorum on the site.

Perhaps you are right, Funky, it must not be a Lebel. More probably it is a Charleville Musket. As you know, Tom Hanks made an HBO mini-series in 1998 about the Apollo Project, in which he paid obsessive attention to detail. In one episode, the only one in which Hanks himself appeared as an actor, he recreated the filming of Le Voyage dans la Lune, a screenshot from which is reproduced here:

So I'm here again and, I hope, for long time. And second, I need to apologize for my behavior: that unhappy day I've had heavy problems IRL and when I've seen these edits on several pages I was really pissed off. Of course it was for nothing, and now I'm ashamed for the hasty and unwise edits I've done. I'll see what can be done with these pages to prevent loosing the interesting content while not breaking the rules. Maybe the rule can be discussed in future, maybe not. Re:Soviet film studios

All film studios in USSR were subordinates of USSR State Committee for Cinematography (Goskino), an agency of the Union government of the Soviet Union. So it is incorrect to call them Ukrainian, Moldovian or Estonian. I think that you are right, and pre-1992 movies would be better put in "Soviet Produced" or "USSR Produced" category while "Russian Produced" category is for movies filmed in post-1991 Russia (and for Russian Empire movies if any of them will appear here). I had such idea myself but never introduced it. The same case already exists with Yugoslavian pre-1990s movies. Greg-Z (talk) 15:47, 25 June 2013 (EDT)

You good with ID'ing revolvers?

I added an "unknown revolver" entry on this article: Tales from the Crypt since I can't ID it. The characters in the episode describes it as a .44 though that could be a script-error. Re: The Last Stand

Hi, and sorry for the late answer. I've been on my laptop, away from home (where I have my new pc and all my new screencaps), so I couldn't really do anything about your request. But I'm home now. I checked out all of my pre-existing screencaps which I used when I completed the page. I also went over the scene a few times, but everything happens so fast. All of the Troopers go down pretty fast, and the scene's just really a mix of blue unifroms, blood, and gunfire. I couldn't really spot the guy from the other Troopers. --Warejaws (talk) 20:20, 5 July 2013 (EDT)

Vector

I was going by original manufacturer name as per GE M134 minigun and a few others. My decision may have been coloured by the fact that TDI sounds less stupid. Evil Tim (talk) 03:32, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

My main issue is that most cases of the weapon appearing are from back when "TDI Vector" was the correct name, and I'm not that happy with "updating" links in a way that isn't strictly technically accurate. Any K10 SMG would be a KRISS USA produced one because they're all after the change, but prototype-based Vectors would always be TDI (since the KRISS USA brand didn't exist at that time) and I imagine most real Vectors in the movie industry have TDI trades.
Just as an example; if Colt suddenly changed its name to Bob, it would be rather weird changing every gun page to reflect that when every weapon ID would be of a Colt-produced weapon. Not that it's going to happen, I just think 'original name' is the best precedent for page names which include manufacturer names, saves shifting them around whenever someone tries to think of a sillier name for themselves. It should be at KRISS USA Vector if we're using the ALLCAPS ARMS title anyway, though. Evil Tim (talk) 09:34, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

Thanks

Thanks. oh… Although I had it before, I saw in the picture book, I did not remember. --KINKI'boy (talk) 1:31, 20 July 2013 (JST)

Desert Eagle

I've moved the page back to the original name since I don't understand why the user moved it in the first place, and they certainly didn't say why they did / were doing it. There isn't any real criteria for the "series" title and I don't think it's that warranted when we just use "Glock" for the much more expansive Glock product line. Evil Tim (talk) 14:57, 31 July 2013 (EDT)

Trouble with updating gun image

I'm trying to update http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/File:Polish_M48_Tokarev.jpg, because original one was US sold variant with aftermarket safety. Unfortunately, all I can get is original file with different dimensions. Somehow mine file appears in file history when I'm reverting back to the original. Picture quotes

I noticed some photos have quotes from movies in them. i.e the Spider-Man 3 photo of a Beretta 92fs had the quote "Fire!", the Terminator 2 Colt/Detonics M1911A1 Series 70 Hybrid was "Hasta la vista, baby." and the photo of The Other Guys glocks was "Drop it or be dropped, homeboy! Hope you like the taste of prison food...and penis." So it came to my mind saying I should put the quote "Ok, DROP HIM!" in a Terminator 2 photo of a CAR 15. I did so, but Ben41 removed it and just said "Undo revision by Gunnerboy." nothing more. Now I'm scared cause of an event that happened to me 1 and a half month ago. Ok, I'm already in a pickle, but here is my full story: My whole life on Wiki type websites have been a mess since the beginning (or at least my beginning at Super Mario Wiki which was the 1st ever wiki I joined). Super mario wiki blocked me for "sockpuppetting" (I don't even know what that is) and I couldnt edit there for 2 weeks. So, after that, I decided its time for me to officially quit that wiki - PERMANENTLY and to do something else on the web. I 1st created the user "Toadettefan1000" between 2011-2012 before Mario Party 9 was released. I was a Newbie, Probie or anything you want to call me thats similar to that, everything except a learner, because I was overexcited, couldnt control my mind/think properly and got right to work spreading my edits to pages the moment my account got created (unaware that there were other users at the time). I put "Toadette is considered an F- character due to the # of game appearances" in the Toadette trivia and l logged off (because I wanted to show my opinion of Toadette's appearances in games since she dosent appear much in the whole mario series). But minutes later, when I came back on, I discovered my edit is gone. I figured "Aw well, better put it back on." and so I did. But minutes later after that 2nd edit, the edit is gone! So, I was thinking "What?! I could've swore I done an edit here! Maybe theres a bug in the system." So I put my edit back on again. This gig kept up all the way til nightfall and thats when I was like "Thats it, I quit!" So, I left. A day after quitting, I decided to join Transformers wiki and do an edit on 1 of my fave pages titled "Unknown Constructicon Shovel" by adding multiple screenshots of the shovel transforming, but they got rejected claiming they "dont need multiple screenshots of the same character in 1 scene". So, I quit that wiki as well. An hour later, I decided to join Disney wiki, and since I've been to Hong Kong Disneyland, I decided to put Mickey and Minnie's Chinese names in their trivia pages (I thought it would be nice to know their Chinese names and learn some Chinese in the process). But you can probably guess what happened there. Anyways, I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE WORLD ANYMORE! I even came back onto Super mario wiki 36 days ago to put a comment on the Rosalina talk page now as "RosalinaLover" (At 1st, I thought creating a new account would help me to start a new and better life here, put the miserable past behind me and solve my problems, but no, it seem to make things worse) saying that I stumbled upon some modified images of Rosalina in different alternate outfits on Google/Yahoo (besides her dress and bike suit), how its not natural for someone to put a character in an unofficial outfit and how they are able to make fan (yet official looking) art (because you know how people can get when it comes to future games, so they draw/make possibility pictures), but it got pulled down. And it just gets worse and thats where I hit a snag: within 2 hours after that edit, 1 of my accounts on Super mario wiki got blocked for "Sockpuppetting" for 2 weeks and the other indefinitely. I couldnt even log on or edit here for the time and thats when I decided to officially quit Super mario wiki and take my business elsewhere. I was thinking "either the previous wiki type websites I worked on hate me or I suck at editing". Every edit I did got taken down/rejected/trashed (looks like its back to the old drawing board). I'm in a real tizzy right now. No matter what I did, things seem to just get worse and worse as if no 1 wants me around. I COULDNT STAND THIS ANYMORE! :( I couldnt tolerate this kind of treatment any longer. So, I bid them all farewell and good riddance! :( Now recalling this event on IMFDB, I got even more scared, cause the same thing might happen here like on Super Mario Wiki.--Gunnerboy (talk) 23:47, 20 August 2013 (EDT)

Wolfenstein 3D

I was changing this page. Why you delete this? I could add weapons from original game. And remake is notability, because it legally use engine by Ken Silverman, who crated a Build Engine, what used by Duke Nukem 3D and Blood. STEN (talk) 03:02, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

Eligible? This is short list of weapons, what I try to add:

  • Glock 19
  • Walther P22
  • Luger P08
  • MP40
  • Minigun
  • Double Barreled Shotgun (in some place in Voxelstein 3D)
  • M16A1 (in cover of Wolf)
  • AK-47 (in the cover of Spear of Desitny, addon of original game)
  • Stielhandgranate (in some versions of original game and Voxelstein)
  • Flamethrover (in some ports of original game)
  • C4 (in both games)

This list is long. And I did not want to add a knife. Why you decided what this large list of weapons is eligible? STEN (talk) 03:24, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

Picture Quality

I've redone the page for The Skeleton Key for the user's future reference. I'd recommend further action if quality on any new movie pages doesn't improve. --Ben41 (talk) 14:29, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

Colt SF-VI

I say the Magnum Carry should have it's own page. Though the model is the same frame size as the Colt Detective Special/SF-V1 it's also a different model. Different steel, longer cylinder beefed up internals etc. After all it's a .357 magnum small frame snubbie. The S&W Model 19 is a K frame like the S&W Model 10 or the S&W Model 15, but they are very distinct models. All three have their own pages here in imfdb so I say the same should go for the Magnum Carry. --Jcordell (talk) 12:40, 24 August 2013 (EDT)

So I see. Yeah well in review it works. I don't think one could see the difference all that easily anyway from a screencap. Hope to be around more now. The last few months have been very hectic. Daughter graduating from high school and starting college. Medical issues for me (surgery) and so on and so forth. But I think things are going to slow down now. I hope. But the site looks like it's done just fine without me being around all that much. --Jcordell (talk) 12:53, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
Yes I've noticed the difference as well.imfdb seems to be more orderly now. It does feel strange not having her here. She's down in San Francisco so she isn't to far away (about a ten hour drive from Boise), but I still remember the day she was born back in 95. Seems like it was about three hours ago and now she's off to college! Her younger brother has already begun to move things around. Took all of her "woman stuff" out of their bathroom. We're lucky in that we have two bathrooms. My daughter took about half of her various prodcuts which means she had way too much shampoo, skin care products and what not, but I was the one who wanted a daughter. Something my wife never tires of reminding me. Marcus has boxed it up and put it in her now very empty bedroom. While I think he misses her he's been waiting for almost sixteen years to be an only child. He's going to make the most of it. But man is the house quiet.--Jcordell (talk) 13:32, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
You feel old? Ha. My parents were dating in the summer of 67 when the Detroit riots took place. I was born in Detroit in Feb 68. Which means the senior at Ann Arbor (Class of 2014) were born when in 92 - mostly. In 92 I had already been married for a year and had graduated from college in 1990. I didn't even pay all that much attention to the Simpson trial. I was too busy being a new father, husband and soldier. Plus we were stationed in Germany which was nice. We were a long ways away from the U.S. and even though the Germans were fascinated by the trial as well the news was all in German. LOL. --Jcordell (talk) 13:41, 25 August 2013 (EDT)

Re: Straight bolt handles in Kar98k rifles

This rifle here appears to be a Vz.24 in a Kar98k stock. It has the front sight band/mount of the Vz.24 (inherited from the Gew.98); the band is fitted to a barrel step and blends in with the outer profile of the barrel. The handguard on a Kar98k fits into a semi-circular recess on the front or the rear sight base, and you can see the lip on the handguard exposed, rather than covered with a steel band. Finally, the rear sight leaf, slider and base don't match those of a Kar98k, but fit perfectly with a Vz.24. I suspect the other rifles with straight bolts are also Vz.24 cosmetically altered to resemble Kar98k rifles.

In this pic the two rifles nearest the camera definitely have Vz.24 front & rear sights. The third rifle has a Kar98k-type front sight band.

Re:Piranha

Alas, I don't have this movie on DVD. I'll try to loan it from one or another of my friends but I cannot sware that I'll do it in near time. Or maybe Pyramid Silent will be able to rebuild the page himself. A category "Poor quality" will be appropriate for this page. Maybe it will be good to create such category for pages with poor quality screenshots? Greg-Z (talk) 14:59, 3 September 2013 (EDT)

Yes, I understand the problem. So it will be better to mark that page as Incomplete - it is really incomplete, even if not taking into account the low quality of screenshots. But for now I have an agenda that contains about half a dozen movies that wait until I'll have time for them - the third film of The Elusive Avengers saga, a three-part war movie Front Without Flanks and some others. Thank goodness, my wife looks favorably on my hobby. :) She only reproaches me that I'm not an admin. :) But speaking seriously, I'll try to do something to improve Piranha page. A large part of my contribution was made when I was working as a freelancer and had a lot of spare time. Now I'm back in office... What concerns the Soviet/Russian movies, you are right: they rarely appear abroad the former USSR though some more recently filmed ones are distributed in English also. And some old Soviet films have been re-released in HD/Blue-ray quality but I cannot afford purchasing all of them. Greg-Z (talk) 05:18, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

Thanks. i couldn't get the damn thing to format correctly. I finally walked away. It was either that or throw the computer across the room.--Jcordell (talk) 22:19, 6 September 2013 (EDT)

yeah I do. I was twelve when Magnum P.I. started in 1980 and I watched the show pretty consistently up until it went off the air my sophomore year in college. So he's been around most of my life and I like his screen presence. I'm also a member of the NRA and I like the fact that he's an actor who isn't afraid to stand up to the anti's and the gun grabbers. --Jcordell (talk) 09:42, 7 September 2013 (EDT)

Thanks for doing that redirect to the S&W 44 series. I knew I had forgotten to do something.--Jcordell (talk) 12:51, 9 September 2013 (EDT)

Thank you for promoting me to Admin status! I'll try to do the best I can for the IMFDB, and not fail. I'm very glad and even excited. May I ask you to help me a little with my new status? I don't want to do something wrong due to inexperience so I need to know more about the Admin tools and maybe to read some manual like "IMFDB Admin for Dummies" :) Greg-Z (talk) 02:37, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

Thanks! One more question: I see red exclamation marks ("This edit has not yet been patrolled") near some edits in Recent Changes. What to do with it (or just ignore)? Greg-Z (talk) 06:56, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

Philippine/filipino

I'm not sure, but I think Philippine refers to the location whereas Filipino refers to people from the Philippines. Therefore I think "Philippine Produced" would be the more correect category, as we are talking about films produced in the geographic location of the Phillipines, rather than those produced by people from the Philippines. --commando552 (talk) 08:46, 2 October 2013 (EDT)

The Belgium thing is different though, as the original category name for this was not the name of the country but already the adjective. It is true that the demonym of people from the Philippines in Filipino, but we shouldn't be using the demonym for these categories as that refers to the people and is not necessarily the correct adjective for something originating from that country but which is not a product of the people and culture there (for example you would say Filipino food or Filipino language). I wasn't 100% when I made the original Philippine category, but the thing that tipped it for me is that the term Philippine is used to refer to stuff like the Philippine Army, Philippine islands, Philippine Revolution etc.. I think people tend to also use the term Filipino colloquially to things that would correctly be termed Philippine which doesn't help in trying to work out the correct term. --commando552 (talk) 09:11, 2 October 2013 (EDT)

RE:Picture

Thanks, decided I wanted a picture on my page and decided to go for the most random, non identifiable one I had on my phone. I have to admit, I regretted that costume by the end of the day as I was wearing real body armour, the face paint was running into my eyes, my bag was really full and heavy, it was about 30 degrees C and the air conditioning there was weak as hell. --commando552 (talk) 12:53, 2 October 2013 (EDT)

Re: Hellsinki

That's propably true. I took the wip banner off the page, since it's been like a year when I last edited it. I thought it was unfair for the page to keep it on there, since I haven't worked on it in a while. I will finish Hellsinki in the future, though. I have the screencaps and everything, I just don't know when I'll get to it. --Warejaws (talk) 06:43, 4 October 2013 (EDT)

Absolutely true, but I don't have them on this PC. The screencaps are on my old laptop, which I still used occasionally when I had free time in the army. The laptop is currently at my grandmother's, and I don't know when I will visit there next. Her place isn't exactly close to my current city. I have a couple of other movies screencapped on it too, but I don't use it anymore because I built a new desktop PC around April. --Warejaws (talk) 14:00, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
Damn, it seems I made quite a few unkept promises when I was in the army... I can't even remember the one about The Watch. BUT, as a matter of fact, I have screencaps for it, and now that you reminded me about it, I will finish it tomorrow at the latest. --Warejaws (talk) 06:53, 6 October 2013 (EDT)
No, it's okay. If it gets deleted, some other new user will probably come and do a drive-by-build on the page and we're back to square one again. Yeah, I hate it too, but I really shouldn't be one to judge, haha. I didn't even finish the Johan Falk page a while back even though I had all 6 of the newer 2009 movies screencapped. Altough, I think I was in the military back when I created the page, so we can pin it on that... --Warejaws (talk) 13:09, 6 October 2013 (EDT)
And, finally, it is done. The Watch, I mean... --Warejaws (talk) 13:23, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

In august you deleted a pege Wolfesntein 3d and said, what this is not eligible. I made a list of weapons, what appear in all 4 games (6 in Voxelstein 3D and 13 in Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny and Mission packs). Is that eligible now? --STEN (talk) 08:28, 14 October 2013 (EDT)

Firefly

HD caps would be better. I just got this series on DVD and am just starting to go through it. Whoever did this page didn't put the episode name in the captions, but I will look through and try to label the best I can and let you take care of the caps that are labeled. --Ben41 (talk) 00:16, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

I'll let you do the caps then. I'll just label the captions to help you out. --Ben41 (talk) 00:26, 17 October 2013 (EDT)
I'll add some of the caps that were especially bad, but you can overwrite them later with the BD. --Ben41 (talk) 14:32, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

Iron Man 3

I already have done some of the caps, but if there are any more missing, go ahead and add. As for Agent Carter, should there be a page for all the Marvel One-Shot shorts? I believe the one with Coulson in the convenience store had weapons as well. If not a separate page, I would put it on the discussion page of the film it was included with. --Ben41 (talk) 14:31, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

There are four of these One-Shots so far:

"The Consultant" - Coulson talks about getting the Hulk on the Avengers, mostly footage from The Incredible Hulk (seen on the Thor BD).

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" - Coulson thwarts a robbery (seen on the Captain America BD)

"Item 47" - Two robbers use alien technology (seen on Avengers BD)

"Agent Carter" - Iron Man 3 BD

I would make it the listings on the discussion pages of the films then. --Ben41 (talk) 14:44, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

Locked pages

Hi, you informed me that I recently created a page that was apparently locked (guess you know which one...). Just to avoid me stepping into another 'bee's nest' again, can you please let me know how I can see a page is locked and thus should not be created? I searched for clues, e.g. there was nothing on the 'Special Pages' page. IMFDB is too dear to me to have further 'situations' so I would really appreciate if you could let me know. Thanks in advance, PeeWee055 (talk) 04:17, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

Thanks for letting me know about the locked page for "Team America: World Police". Had I seen such a notice, I would not have spend any more time and effort. However, (and believe this or not...) I honestly did not see this when I typed the movie name in the search bar last week. I just saw the usual (reciting from memory here...) 'there is no such page, create page Team America: World Police' which I happily did.
Guess this site does have its little peculiarities, just like when this morning I created a new talk topic on your Talk page by pressing the 'add topic' button and my new topic was not numbered 152 (because the previous one is 151) but mysteriously 151.1. Take care and thanks for the cooperation, PeeWee055 (talk) 10:17, 21 October 2013 (EDT)
I assume the header for 151 was written = Iron Man 3 = and not == Iron Man 3 ==. Since this header uses two equality signs, the system considers it as sub-segment of the previous one and labels it "151.1". --Soulblydd (talk) 10:24, 21 October 2013 (EDT)
Yep, I was right, should've been fixed. --Soulblydd (talk) 10:26, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

Possibility of restoring of M29 Mortar page

While I've done some work on various mortar pages, I found out that M29 Mortar page was deleted in 2010 by MoviePropMaster2008 with a reason: "NOT a firearm. Though we list mortars on individual pages, we don't list mortars, artillery, cannons or any INDIRECT fire system". Now I see that the rules have changed and mortar pages are welcome. But I don't want any conflicts with other admins, so I want to know if restoring of this page will be welcome or not. Greg-Z (talk) 16:16, 26 October 2013 (EDT)

I still feel myself a little timid as an admin. :) But I'll follow your advice in future. Greg-Z (talk) 06:29, 27 October 2013 (EDT)

Re: Lone Ranger

Re:Midsomer Murders

You are right, my personal attitude to the series isn't the most important thing, and the work must be done. But it's impossible to continue the page because Season 16 isn't released yet. And I can only guess when it will be released in Russia - maybe half a year later, as it was with Season 15, maybe even later. I hope that someone of our British colleagues would be able to continue the work. Greg-Z (talk) 12:33, 4 November 2013 (EST)

It's really a curious fact. I like British detective series, such as Agatha Christie's Poirot or Miss Marple (the old one, with Joan Hickson) or Foyle's War. They have the spirit of Good Old England though they aren't filled with firearms like American ones. Greg-Z (talk) 13:15, 4 November 2013 (EST)

No problem. I rolled it back without actually looking at the history. My mistake. I have the DVD so I'll see about getting more caps. One of my favorites so it isn't a chore. --Jcordell (talk) 01:14, 26 November 2013 (EST)

No it isn't out on Blue-Ray. It was released on DVD in 2004 because the cable network TNT had a viewer's survey asking them which older movie they would like to see released on DVD. "The wind and the Lion" won. I voted for it, Otherwise it might not have been released for several more years. So Blue-Ray is probably a few years away though you never know. --Jcordell (talk) 17:20, 26 November 2013 (EST)

Resident Evil 4

What the hell is your problem!? What's wrong with ya? Stuff & things I did to this and other few pages are completely OK! Well I guess all of you guys just love to have user comments on pic descriptions, messy incorrect text, and apparently you guys want IMFDb to be, on my language jargon, like "on a dead horse". TitaniumAlloy (talk) 12:42, 28 November 2013 (EST)

To edit article doesn't mean to format it. Do you know what does that even mean? If somebody told you to stop, I don't know, working without saying what's the reason, even though your work is fine, would you still do it? Lots of edits I did are universal and it shouldn't be such a big fuss... TitaniumAlloy (talk) 13:00, 28 November 2013 (EST)

I changed the category from WIP to Incomplete only on the pages where the work seems to be stopped a year ago or even earlier. OK, I'll stop such activity. Greg-Z (talk) 22:40, 3 December 2013 (EST)

Red links

Well, it's possible to check using YouTube or the Wikia for that game (since there always is one). I just think it's rather wasteful to remove redlinks for pages someone might build if we can check on them somehow. Evil Tim (talk) 09:32, 6 December 2013 (EST)

Oh, I don't mean poaching caps, I'm talking about checking redlinks. We can do that easily enough. Maybe turn them into non-links if we can find proof but it's unlikely anyone will ever make a page, just to have a more complete listing somewhere. Evil Tim (talk) 09:47, 6 December 2013 (EST)

Images from Duke Nukem 3D in Delete category

While scanning the Delete category, I found three images that looks like the ones used on Duke Nukem 3D page. I found out that you have deleted all three September 9 but then restored December 2. So what shall we do with these images now - delete them, keep them, move them on DN3D page/discussion page? Thanks! Greg-Z (talk) 01:54, 11 December 2013 (EST)

Then I'll move then on DN3D discussion page. Better safe than sorry. :) Greg-Z (talk) 02:08, 11 December 2013 (EST)

Villar-Perosa

It's sad and not fair, especially taking into consideration Bergmann Model 1896 page (please don't delete it). Is it possible to salvage the texts of both pages and keep it in some kind of sandbox until another Villar-Perosa appears? In fact, I'm amazed how easy you delete everything you can. Probably the rooms of your house are empty with only a bed, a computer and a few guns. :( --Kloga (talk) 20:31, 15 December 2013 (EST)

And hey, if a few mock-ups do count as in case with Bergmann Model 1896, this thing, counts as a mock-up of Villar-Perosa OVP M1918. --Kloga (talk) 20:42, 15 December 2013 (EST)
I've also found this. And, apart from rules, let's face it, we'll probably never will see anything other the mock-up for both Villar-Perosa or Bergmann Pistol, they're too rare to be movie props. So having no actual page for it is stripping readers from information and that kind of betrays "information resource". It may seem "half-assed" (never heard of that term...) for you, but I made Villar-Perosa article, because I wanted to share information about it with people. It has it's faults, though, I agree, because I'm not as good with both wiki-engine and technics. And I'll correct the faults, I'm even eager to do it. --Kloga (talk) 20:56, 15 December 2013 (EST)
And basically, considering how different Villar-Perosa looked in Sicilian, The, Sherlock Holmes SMG is probably a mock-up of the same level. And I have found a legal case and a few other mock-ups. I should have searched for them while doing the article, though, so great thanks for lesson and, please, restore the articles so that I will add new things. --Kloga (talk) 21:07, 15 December 2013 (EST)

Re: Heroes

Hey Funkychinaman, Yes I do have them set to PNGs, and I use a program called Irfanview to convert them to jpg after. You see I used to use Cyberlink PowerDVD years back to take my screenshots, but now that I have newer computer, I am now using VLC player which I'm getting used to. Thanks for the link to your guide as well, I'll be sure to read up on it when I get the chance.--Alienqueen11 (talk) 00:20, 17 December 2013 (EST)

Automatic Crossbow

I was researching Van Helsings Automatic Crossbow for some reason and I suddenly have found that there are numerous examples of Automatic crossbows, even in real life (!), gas-operated, electric, mechanical, pump-action etc. It isn't literally firearms (though, as I mentioned, there are numerous electric and CO2 cases), but still they can be considered some of the earliest ancestors and repeating weapons. Can I add a page for it, at least for examples that are really close for firearms (use principles that I've mentioned upper, or otherwise)? Some restrictions should be here, but examples are numerous, even here you can find many of them. I'm really inspired and eager to do it and you're probably the most frequently deleting admin here, so you permission is obliged. --Kloga (talk) 18:26, 17 December 2013 (EST)

That's what it is - Rules says NOTHING on automatic crossbows, even ordinary crossbows and bows (and that's why I finally know why Rambo's still here). :) It says that direct fire weapons can only deserve their own page, but, well: "Example of direct fire weapons include handguns, rifles, machine guns, anti-tank guns, and anti-tank rockets. Howitzers and mortars are examples of indirect fire weapons. Large caliber machine guns, like the .50 caliber, can be used in both roles. In the pre-gun age, bows could be used in either role.". I'm not rule bending, as you can see. If you're not against it (I hope so, because I'm in process of writing), I'm launching a discussion on Rules talk page. --Kloga (talk) 18:56, 17 December 2013 (EST)

AssaultCube

What?, The pistol was the hardest to find and the shotgun is nearly the same just without the butt stock. Okay, the ingame 1st person model of the assault rifle does not look like an AK-104 but in the "weapon select" menu it does.

Discussion Pages

I was asking Ben41 just because he was active at the time. Sorry for an another question but could information on guns in failed pilots and other restricted installments still be added to franchise's categories, as well as as discussion of guns pages? Thanks for answering and sorry for being boring and irritating. --Kloga (talk) 18:16, 20 December 2013 (EST)

Thanks on answering. NES Mad Max basically had really bad screenshots. Is it possible for me to craft a new article in some kind of a sandbox (do non-admins have the right to create them?) tomorrow or later and then show you to confirm this? Thanks, again. --Kloga (talk) 18:26, 20 December 2013 (EST)

Thanks. I don't even hope for the page, just a hyperlink in the template (for franchise completeness) and category inclusion, maybe. --Kloga (talk) 18:32, 20 December 2013 (EST)

Post Apocalyptic and other genres

It is a genre, in fact. A sub-genre of Sci-Fi which has too many significant issues to be qualified as just a sci-fi. Traditional genre system was developed back in ancient times while newer additions were mostly made because of re-inventing nearly all the culture in 20th century. In fact we doesn't even able to find clear genre-established films today - most of them mixes up to five genres/sub-genres so it's perfectly normal. Also, many of the traditional genres definitions changed enough since ancient time and subsequently. Culturally it's just will be unfair to say that a post-apocalyptic fiction is not developed enough to doesn't have it's own laws, themes and establishing elements to be called such. So does blaxploitation, slasher, zombie film and a few others. --Kloga (talk) 21:55, 29 December 2013 (EST)

I hope you don't mind me piping in a bit. I actually am with you FCM in that they may be a couple/few too many categories on the site already. That said, while I don't support the idea of Kloga's 'slasher' category, I actually do think Post-Apocalyptic is a proper category, moreso than 'slasher' in that Post-Apocalyptic can be more specifically qualified - it's generally pretty clear what 'Post-Apocalyptic' is. Now I wouldn't mind it it was done away with though, but I just wanted to speak up with that. That said, having it and 'zombie' categories are most likely redundant, and that, to me, is a concern in terms of denying/eliminating categories. But just an opinion, final say's up to you guys. StanTheMan (talk) 22:04, 29 December 2013 (EST)
To FCM: The Road Warrior is a Post-Apocalyptic movie., Friday the 13th (1980) is a Slasher movie. Basically, as you have pointed genre needs strong examples and so do this categories. You say this and you have described and outlined it at least in general. --Kloga (talk) 22:09, 29 December 2013 (EST)

Strayed: "And what's a shef?"

"Shef" is a Russian pronunciation for "chief". We use this word to describe any superior, boss or anything like this, including the chieftain of a gang. The word came into Russian language from French "chef", hence the pronunciation. Greg-Z (talk) 14:56, 1 January 2014 (EST)

Thanks if it's possible and even if it's not. There's a similar situation with Musketeers... --Kloga (talk) 14:06, 3 January 2014 (EST)

Thanks! Will do the page in a few minutes after finishing an article about Nartov Mortar System. --Kloga (talk) 14:41, 3 January 2014 (EST)

May I create it a little bit later without deleting the Nartov's page? I haven't researched for that game yet, though I've started today... --Kloga (talk) 15:00, 3 January 2014 (EST)
Still, please don't delete it a few hours - I'm researching more on whether the thing was in any other movies or games... --Kloga (talk) 15:11, 3 January 2014 (EST)
Sorry for creating redundant category - I've thought it's possible and needed. I hope that this can pass for some time till I'll research more on subject. Returning to Sherlock Holmes page, after all... --Kloga (talk) 19:41, 3 January 2014 (EST)
Done! Hope it'll pass, because what I did was a little bit experimental, after all, and there are not so many disambiguation pages on public domain characters with more then 100 different appearances... --Kloga (talk) 21:48, 3 January 2014 (EST)
Is it possible to keep information and picture on Sherlock Holmes Baffled in the introduction section of the article? It's a great part of movie history and back then there were no full features, but it's basically character's first appearance in cinema and it features a gun (while clear picture is a hard task, when it moves I'm 80% sure it's FN Model 1900). It even may be a main picture of an article as it started it all... --Kloga (talk) 22:05, 3 January 2014 (EST)
There are no rules on disambiguation pages, by the way. And if it was done by someone else then me it would have probably stay on the page as a creative way of doing a disambiguation page. :( Not to mention that IMFDB should be named IMFFDB... --Kloga (talk) 22:13, 3 January 2014 (EST)
As I've said rules not regulate anything. And being beyond the norm, sometimes is a good thing. I'm going to sleep (5:38 AM! Heck of an insomnia, though a normal thing for me and a Christmas period) so goodnight but I feel like I need to warn you (to make you watching all of my moves like CIA a more easy thing) that I already have quite a few good articles coming - something like 5 are very near to be included and this may happen tomorrow. --Kloga (talk) 22:36, 3 January 2014 (EST)

Kloga's last work

It seems to me that two last pages, created by Kloga, are very questionable: Nartov Mortar System is a smoothbore pre-Napoleonic artillery piece, and we don't keep pages about such weapons. And Cossacks: European Wars is an RTS that doesn't show individual soldiers close enough so their weapons can be seen. So I think that both pages must be deleted. What do you think about it? Greg-Z (talk) 09:24, 4 January 2014 (EST)

OK, I agree with your decision though I don't think that Cossacks page can ever be qualified. But time will show. Greg-Z (talk) 13:12, 4 January 2014 (EST)

Spring Breakers

I'm not sure which model/brand the blank firing Beretta is but I will try to find out. It was not mine. I will also check on the Taurus PT 92. I cannot confirm that Alien switches to a real Beretta 92 FS Inox. The only ones that I personally saw were the blank firing. I'm working on getting an accurate list. The close-up of Big Arch's henchmen chambering a round was a blank firing Glock-type but I will find out the specifics on that also. In the table shot, #1) Is a Spike's Concussion AR pistol. There are a total of 4 Spikes Concussion ARs in the movie. There is a second one on the table behind it but you really can't see it in the screen shot. #2) Is a Glock 20 SF with Lone Wolf barrel. #5) Is 2 Springfield V-16 long slides in .45 Super with Wilson Combat 10 round mags #6) Is a Glock 35. Also, Big Arch's henchmen with the M11/9 is a female. Hard Boiled

As I can see, this problem was already discussed. For example, gutmunchers.com: "More specifically, Tony Leung’s undercover cop, Alan (or Tony. In all honesty, I never picked up on his name being Tony; however, he was credited as such. I am assuming the Triads knew him as Alan, and Tony was his real name. Forgive me if I’m factually incorrect) and the sacrifices he makes in trying to bring down the bad guys." On moviebodycounts.com: "Characters: Tequila (Yun Fat), Alan/Tony (Leung)". And last but not least, Hong Kong Movie Data Base: "Tony Leung Chiu-Wai ... Tony/Alan". Greg-Z (talk) 02:56, 19 January 2014 (EST)

Yes, "Alan/Tony" seems to be a better choice. Greg-Z (talk) 04:26, 19 January 2014 (EST)

The Colony

Do I need to go back and recapture those images that I cropped and uploaded already? If a close up helps to show the weapon do I still leave it as a full screenshot? or no close ups period? Thanks for the info, still learning sorry! --Davken1102 (talk) 03:19, 9 February 2014 (EST)

I did see that but the reason I asked was because I've seen other pages where users did that and it did give a much better view of the weapon than if it was simply circled (very small compared to the rest of the screenshot), but if that is the way imfdb would like it done I am happy to comply. Thanks again!--Davken1102 (talk) 03:34, 9 February 2014 (EST)

Thank you, I will only edit on the discussion page. I will let you upload the article (the colony-2013) to the main page once you feel it is adequate. I have also added two more ss's of sams rifle to help aid identification of the rifle, you may delete them if you feel they are unnecessary. Note: I still see cropped close up images of guns in other articles which I don't understand why these are allowed in some articles but not others. Thanks again for your understanding and I apologize for my ignorance--Davken1102 (talk) 00:24, 14 February 2014 (EST)

Jean Bouise

This is a classic French actor! He starred in dozens of films and often police commissioner and inspectors. And these movies with him come here. This actor is often mentioned. The actor is also featured in many films here already been established, in where play a key role - as such as the The Old Gun.--Pandolfini (talk) 17:46, 12 February 2014 (EST) How I writing - played a lot of these roles. And in here in established as commissioner had a gun in the film Death of a Corrupt Man (Mort d'un pourri), but at night shootout was not recognized.--Pandolfini (talk) 18:09, 12 February 2014 (EST) Here it was impossible to capture. This situation is similar with Jean Gabin. When you look into the history of the site, you'll find that in the beginning was not too photo with a gun, was only a portrait and mention of uncertain gun in my pocket. Only later came to film the Holy Year and with it the necessary photographs with a gun.--Pandolfini (talk) 18:41, 12 February 2014 (EST) You probably do not understand me. That is about the Google translator - I apologize for the" English" language. I'm about it all the time I'm writing. This actor has a lot flilmů where he plays a police officer and that a lot of them on the imfdb arrives. So it is not about one of this listed. He may not be, it is a TV film and do not know if it is available. But it will be a lot of other, similarly as Jean Gabin. He started with a photo of face, cause he fired a gun hidden in his pocket. Film with a photo on which the gun arrived later.--Pandolfini (talk) 19:01, 12 February 2014 (EST) So now he has the gun.--Pandolfini (talk) 19:29, 12 February 2014 (EST)

The possible fate of 6 Bullets screenshots

About a month ago ThichBanSung uploaded about 30 screenshots for 6 Bullets film. Then the user disappeared and the images (of very decent quality) are still unused. It would be a pity to loose them. What do you think about creating a page for 6 Bullets with "Incomplete" tag? We can put all screenshots there and add gun images so the page would lack only descriptions for screenshots. If ThichBanSung would return he can complete this page; if not, maybe someone else who have seen this movie will do this work. In any case the work of ThichBanSung wouldn't be in vain. Greg-Z (talk) 14:00, 8 March 2014 (EST)

State of Decay

What's the procedure for, well, un-nominating an article for deletion? I realize State of Decay has lain idle for a while, but I have still been working on the screenshots when I've had time. As I mentioned on that article's talk page, the game has a randomized loot system, which means it takes time (and luck) to find all of the weapons. I've been gradually getting screenshots as I've found new weapons, I've just been waiting until I have a bunch of good ones, so I could add them all in one go from top to bottom, rather than a couple here, a couple there... I find it easier to work that way.

In any case, the page introduction is original writing, not a copy/paste, and the list of names alone took significant work to put together because State of Decay (like many games) uses obfuscated names to avoid copyright issues. Figuring out what the guns' real names are was itself a group effort that took time, so more effort has already gone into this page than the {Noeffort} tag implies, despite the current lack of screenshots. --MattyDienhoff (talk) 12:30, 25 March 2014 (EDT)

Bios

Thanks for noting about italics, I'll correct. Also, additonally thanks for banning me for three months. I needed some grounding at the time and that was it. By the way, I have two questions for you. The first one: is it possible to add a movie which only has a flamethrower in it? I don't know is it custom or factory-made, but it is used by an actor which need a page here badly (he also was on The Sopranos)... The second question is because you did a page on John Dies at the End - what do you think on cases when airsoft and other non-firing things substitute for real firearms? Were you tricked when you watched Coscarelli's film? I'm a filmmaker myself and currently working on my first feature film. It is, of course, low budget at it's best so I've reduced guns in the screenplay to an adecvate minimum (which doesn't says much since there are still many guns). It's interesting whether it's possible to, at least do it not very obvious... Thanks. --Kloga (talk) 22:02, 5 April 2014 (EDT)

Okay... As for the flamethrower - that's the point - I'm not sure whether it's custom or mass-produced. Maybe I'll drop some images to you and you'll decide?

I'm positively shocked that The Raid used airsoft for it's guns. Many people praise the movie as one of the best action films ever! :) Now I really have some hopes that we can film our airsoft as real weapons and, with some clever manipulation, doesn't make this obvious. Thanks! --Kloga (talk) 10:03, 6 April 2014 (EDT)

It may be becuase of a complex of reasons - apart from legal ones you have safety and budget issues solved, as well. They've trained with real weapons but not owned them, anyway... As for the flamethrower, the movie is Don't Go in the House (1979) and the actor is Dan Grimaldi. --Kloga (talk) 15:44, 6 April 2014 (EDT)

Artillery in Gunga Din and The Four Feathers

Sorry, now I have no guess about these cannons. Maybe the British cannon in Gunga Din is an American M1875 mountain gun though I'm not sure in it. I'll try to search more. Greg-Z (talk) 05:11, 8 April 2014 (EDT)

While the most prominent feature of this gun is a long thin barrel, I guess that the caliber is less than 3 inch. Maybe it is a Naval gun of 47mm or 57mm caliber on field carriage, such guns were used by US Marines for support of landing operations. Greg-Z (talk) 05:32, 8 April 2014 (EDT)
The gun in Four Feathers is still a mystery for me. Though it resembles Armstrong Whitworth cannons of Victorian age ("R.M.L." - rifled muzzle loading), but it seems to be a large caliber, like 5 or 6 inch while British guns of such caliber had a very different outlook. So I'm sorry but cannot help. The British gun in Gunga Din after close inspection differs from M1875 but I have no other guess. The Thugs in Gunga Din operate a typical Napoleonic-style smoothbore muzzle-loading gun. Greg-Z (talk) 12:53, 8 April 2014 (EDT)

Direct-from-TV screenshots: bootleg or not?

Suddenly I found out that I don't know an answer: if someone makes screenshots directly from TV, does the IMFDB rules count this as bootleg or not? I think that such screenshots are legal (it has nothing with illegal copying and distributing), but I cannot find direct answer in the rules. I'm not sure about "Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!" qualifying

What are your thoughts? MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 03:51, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

Hmmmm. I think this really 'straddles' the qualification line.
It must have more than one real firearm in it
The page must have enough firearms to merit inclusion into the database, thus the page must have more than ONE real firearm in it to qualify. There are some important exceptions to this rule:
1) the firearm is identifiable, well seen and important to the story. A film where 'some character' wields an 'unknown revolver' means nothing.
2) it has enough screen time for any viewer to wonder what make or model it is. .
3) it must drive the plot forward and not be an 'incidental' prop (like something hanging on the wall in the background).
(a) If it is in the background, it must be 'interesting enough' to merit someone asking the question 'what is that?' Thus if it has enough screen time and it is identifiable,
it qualifies. If it is a random 'set dressing' or a 'shape' held by a extra, then it does not qualify.
4) the single firearm rule only applies if the firearm is real. If it is an obvious toy or airsoft gun, then it does not qualify. Having a lone character wave around an 'orange plug' airsoft
toy does not merit a page. If the film is filled with various replica or high quality airsoft weapons than can fool the casual viewer, then it qualifies, if only to shine light upon the
fact that the guns are fakes.

This old rule was written specifically for movies and TV, so I guess it's inherently unfair to video games and anime, where the guns are never "real". But seriously. A title for a game that has only ONE gun in int and it's a matchlock to boot? :( MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 04:20, 21 April 2014 (EDT)

But I bought it at the special shop, where customers may bought only license DVD. And I pay $35 (more that 1000rubles). It's a VERY big price (medium is $15). Also, this TV-series we can watch at the television. It was officialy licensed in Russia. Pyramid Silent (talk) 14:34, 29 May 2014 (EDT)
I see it, but it's present at the same DVD, that dubbed by our channel. Many films dubbed by companies like "pifagor" and it doesn't put any marks to his production. But when films licensed by TV-channell, it can have watermarks "to reclame this TV-channel". Pyramid Silent (talk) 14:45, 29 May 2014 (EDT)
I can't unswer to this question. I think, that those shop officialy send only license production. Due this fact, all DVD have a big price. New files

Hi, Ive cross referenced the Harry Palmer films as much as possible so I've uploaded 4 new images, can you check their quality please? I've also asked Ben41 to check them. The first two are from Breakthrough and the second two from Brass target. Neither has officially been released on dvd and they are quite rare! They are from VCR rips so quality won't get better than this I'm afraid! --Maskedweasel (talk) 09:22, 5 June 2014 (EDT)

About my pages.

Can I ask you for several questions?

The first - can you help me with a page Sacred? I couldn't make a good text for this page.

The second - what about Wolfenstein 3D? I understand, I tired you with this, but I ask you. Why you think about this page as uneligible, altough it have SNES, Macintosh, Atary Jaguar, PS3, Xbox 330, 3DO and GBA ports, which has a much better resolution? Because DOS version doesn`t contains many guns which can be clearly indefinite? Or other reason? --STEN (talk) 04:59, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

Unused screenshot from Undercover Brother

While scanning unused files, I found this one that you uploaded for Undercover Brother in March 2011. It's too optimistic from my side to ask about something that was three years ago but maybe you can remember if this image is needed for the movie page. As I can see, Undercover Brother page lacks any revolver. Maybe this screenshot is still needed for the page. Greg-Z (talk) 12:10, 1 July 2014 (EDT)

Sword art Online 2

Hello Funnychinaman, The other day I saw the first episode of SAO 2 and It came to me the idea of creating an article about. But I saw you had already mentioned it on a previos talk. So I wanted to make sure if you had already started writing it.

RE X-Files

Yeah, I saw that, which is actually good, I intend on using those split talk pages for my WIP space as I go, saved me a bit of trouble there. That said, I suppose rather than one season at a time, it might be better if I wait until I have a couple/few seasons ready to go before trying to actually load them up and alter the main page, right? Or is it fine either way? Also, while the 'new version' of the one image I uploaded as a test seems fine, I'm wondering if I should pare the resolution down a bit (No need to have a 1000px image when it doesn't really look good enough to show it off). Also might start tweaking with images, doing some sharpening and stuff. This is my first major undertaking, so it'll be a bit of feeling around for me for a while. But hell, If I can get that show's listing on the site even close to standard with a lot of these other pages, I know plenty of folks would appreciate it. StanTheMan (talk) 14:05, 12 July 2014 (EDT)

Yeah, I disliked that too - All he did was move the relevant pieces to each season and that was it, didn't even bother to alter some of the formatting, add listings (whether or not he even had images) or anything. And when you're talking about a sub-par and kinda shoddy page to begin with.. Bah, well, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. At least that minor process of starting individual pages is more-or-less taken care of for me, so that's fine. Main thing is going through the show and getting the screencaps, rather long and tedious process for me. But I'm gonna hang with it. Anyway, appreciate your input. I helped out Ben when he was splitting up Criminal Minds and SVU, but he set up all the season pages with WIP tags I believe and filled in as he went. I do remember how you did L&O too, with blank pages and doing each one at a time, I'm leaning to doing it that way and just keeping the WIP stuff on the existing talk pages. Not sure. As you alluded to though, it seems either way is fine as long as the shit actually gets worked on and finished. Anyway, once I have S1 all buttoned up, I'll modify the main page and I'll figure out the rest from there. StanTheMan (talk) 14:17, 13 July 2014 (EDT)

RE Part Two

How do? Got a preliminary format for both the first season and main page ready to load (as well as images), but I wanted to first ask if I could get a 'Sandbox' page (or just permission to make one, however it goes) to put it up without altering the present page and get some feedback from some of you guys as to how my series description looks - I'm no writer, and fear I may be getting perhaps too in-depth in describing the show. So, thought I'd get other opinions. If need be I can tone it down a bit. I may also add little blurbs on each season page, kinda like the L&O pages (though perhaps not so detailed), something like that. Also, I have an inquiry in regards to the first season of the show about episode numbers, I'll explain in my next reply. Anyway, let me know what's doin' when it's convenient, thanks. StanTheMan (talk) 21:21, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

Sounds good. My description for the show was less background and a lot more elaborating on the show's story. I'm just wondering if I'm going a bit overboard there and possibly being spoilerish, thats all. That said, if/when I do blurbs for each season, they'll be kinda brief, again, to avoid spoilers, and because, as you said, generally there wasn't a lot of background drama, at least as I've read anyway (There was what could be considered some drama when they moved to LA and Duchovny left the show full-time and such, but that's mostly it, and all that happened later in the show). As for the episode numbers, it's not really an out-of-airing sequence or anything, more just a listing issue - The deal is, if you'll notice on the Season 1 Talk Page, for example, there are some screencaps listed as 'Episode 1.01', when the episode is actually the second in the season. I was thrown off a bit by that but I looked into it a bit more and found that it seems the pilot was given a weird production number (As a stand-alone I suppose), and the rest of the series was serialized in-sequence, but starting the production numbers after that episode - So basically, the pilot has its own other production number, while the second episode for the season is called 1x01 in it's official production, the third is 1x02, and so forth. This is all stated on wikipedia, the X-files wiki and the old official site, and IMDB seems to go along with it that way, and lists it as such (the pilot listed as S1E00, while the second episode is S1E01, and so on). Since that's how it goes and how it's listed there, I'll just do it that way. It's kinda unique, and if need be I can always explain that minor discrepancy later. Otherwise I just have to change all my screencap filenames a bit. No biggie though. Carrying on. StanTheMan (talk) 14:27, 25 July 2014 (EDT)
I've got what's pretty much close to final version up on the main page's discussion page, I did tone it down a bit from what I originally had, and can downplay it further if need be. And yeah, just going with the IMDB listing, like it said, it's what's there to go on. I'm in the middle of uploading and setting up the first season, so that should be almost completely wrapped up shortly. Thanks for the advice and such. StanTheMan (talk) 17:15, 25 July 2014 (EDT)

MW3

Main reason I only fixed things that were actually broken with that edit was that I'm on my tablet and don't really trust touchscreens for in-depth editing, I'll get back to the rest when I get home and things that require fact-checking at the weekend. But I don't really appreciate someone demanding I explain each individual edit to him.

Do you have Skype or Hangouts or anything? Evil Tim (talk) 18:19, 18 September 2014 (EDT)

Ah, well I'm still trying to remember what I did with my forum password (forum doesn't like sending out PW reset emails), but I'll shoot you a PM when I find it. One thing I really want to do is get a page up for EDF 2025 since it is quite possibly the best game ever created by the hand of man. Evil Tim (talk) 08:20, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
Oh, I have it somewhere, I just need time to sort through about a dozen sheets of paper with passwords on them without notes as to what they're the password for, because that was a good idea. Also nice to see Ultimate94Ninja thinks "yeah, well you did something that looks a bit like what I'm doing somewhere else" is an effective tactic. For backstory, Crazysam decided the original Call of Duty isn't HD and only CoD Classic is (even though that game's own PR material says it's the one that's running upscaled), and when I showed him a crystal-clear 1920x1080 cap of the PC game he responded with a ridiculously artifacted resized image of a 240p YouTube video to "prove" the CoD image was upscaled because it "lacked detail" (?!). He banned me for replying to him on his talk page and the ban was rescinded almost instantly by another admin with his brain correctly screwed in, hence his pissy undoing of all my edits. Things like that are why I don't bother posting over there anymore. Evil Tim (talk) 15:20, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
Also, should I archive your talk page again? It's getting a little on the large side. Evil Tim (talk) 15:26, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
OK, I'll get that done when I get home. Also, if you ever get a chance to give EDF a go, do it. It takes a little getting used to, but it's so energetically bonkers you can't really help but enjoy it. It reminds me of things like the old Mega Force toys, every time a new human weapon comes along the first thing they do is tell you how long it is and how big the guns are. And the image of just what Fortress Aircraft Carrier Despina must look like to carry all the weapons it apparently does still amuses me. Evil Tim (talk) 16:09, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
Never played those, I must admit. I always thought of it as like a not-broken version of Body Harvest with more of a focus on blowing everything up. The whole thing's put together with the enthusiasm of a schoolkid designing the best game ever on his lunchbreak (there's one GL that fires a grenade that splits into 30 and one of the top-level support calls is an ICBM the size of a skyscraper) and the "they must know this is silly, right?" charm of a B movie. Evil Tim (talk) 17:55, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
Oh yeah, I was totally into that for a while, still have a bunch of screencaps I need to go through for SR3. Never really got into SR4 for some reason, but I loved 3. RC Possessor was the best co-op weapon ever. Especially for scaring people by having random cars suddenly attack them. :D Evil Tim (talk) 18:06, 19 September 2014 (EDT)

re:Aspect ratios

Just because something is 16:9 doesn't mean it is HD, this was the standard anamorphic widescreen WAY before HD came along for home video/broadcast. The way that we always used to do it was 400 or 500 for 4:3 depending on quality, 500 for 16:9 and 600 for 2.4:1. However, once we started doing a lot of HD TV series with a 16:9 ratio we started doing 600 for these as well as they are higher quality and benefit from it. I personally occasionally use 600 for SD 16:9 caps as well, but generally only if they are good quality and enhanced, and normally they are PAL as well (higher res than NTSC). The caps for Swallowtail Butterfly are sub SD in size and are pretty poor quality (they were originally standard 16:9 NTSC but they had loads of black around them so I would guess that the source is a crappy VHS rip or something) so I limited them to 500. With the quality of these caps there isn't really anything to be gained from going from 500 to 600 anyway, with the exception of making the noise and compression artefacts more obvious:

To be honest I though it was already in the style guide this way. I remember that there has been discussion about this before but I don't see it on the discussion page so is probably somewhere else random. Ah, while typing this I remembered that this is from the Rules not the style guide, and the discussion was in the forum, here. Something needs to be changed as the Rules/Standards/Practices say something different, and word it confusingly at that:
"IMFDB's preferred page format is a thumbnail of either 500px or 600px wide. Exceptions are allowed for unusually wide high quality panoramic shots or images of particular interest but these should be kept to a minimum. Full screen images should be 500px wide, Wide Screen images should be 600px wide, except when the capture is of lesser quality. Grainy or low quality DVD scans should be 500px regardless (when something looks substandard, it is better to present it in a smaller size). Very high quality widescreen images should always be at least 600px wide to showcase their appearance."
What makes this confusing is that it doesn't use actual aspect ratios, just terms like "full screen" (which could mean 4:3 or 16:9 depending) and "widescreen" (which could be 16:9 or 2.4:1). I also think we should probably get rid of that caveated bit at the beginning that allows for potentially larger thumbnails, as I cannot think or a single page where we have done this or where it would be appropriate. As a rough rule I would probably go with the 500 for 4:3 (400 if really crappy vhs rip of something from the 1930s kind of thing), 500 for SD 16:9, 600 for HD 16:9 or particularly good quality SD source, and 600 for 2.4:1 widescreen. Only question is, do we give 700 a go for HD widescreen things? I'm in favour of the 700 thing, in particular as a 700 wide 2.4:1 image is only about 290 high as opposed to a 600 wide 16:9 which is about 338, and it is the height of an image which would make a page appear unnecessarily long. I suppose it could be a problem if viewed on a mobile, but i never use the mobile version of the sight so have no idea if this would be any more of a problem than 600 wide ones.--commando552 (talk) 14:41, 19 September 2014 (EDT)
