The Outsider (1980)
The Outsider is a 1980 drama written and directed by Tony Luraschi starring Craig Wasson and Sterling Hayden. It was adapted from the novel "The Heritage of Michael Flaherty" by Colin Leinster. Idealistic Vietnam veteran Michael Flaherty (Wasson), enthralled by the stories told to him by his grandfather (Hayden) and disillusioned by the lack of a clear cut cause in Vietnam, leaves his comfortable life in a Detroit suburb and goes to Ireland to fight for the IRA, only to discover that nothing is ever clear cut.

Webley Mk VI
Michael Flaherty (Craig Wasson) uses a Webley Mk VI to kidnap William Stanley (Allan Cuthbertson).
Webley Mk IV
Stanley pulls a Webley Mk IV out of his glovebox when he suspects a kidnapping attempt, but is not able to use it in time. Michael and Emmet Donovan (Niall O'Brien) use it to administer "justice" later on.
Walther PPK
Pat (Joe Dowling) pulls a Walther PPK during the kidnapping of Stanley.
Walther P38
Tony Coyle (Frank Grimes) carries a Walther P38 and later hands it over to Michael.
M1911A1
The Farmer (Niall Toibin) pulls out an M1911A1 when he realizes he's been lured into a trap.
Submachine Guns
M1928A1 Thompson
IRA gunmen are armed with M1928A1 Thompson submachine guns at various points in the movie.
MAC-10
An IRA bodyguard is seen with a MAC-10.
Sterling
British troops use Sterling submachine guns.
Rifles
L1A1 SLR
British troops are armed with L1A1 SLRs, and one of the plot points involve the IRA getting their hands on a British weapon.
M1 Garand
Emmet uses an M1 Garand when he scouts out the first bombing in the film.
SMLE
An IRA gunman uses an SMLE to fight off a British patrol. Tony takes it to snipe a soldier to get his SLR.
Machine Guns
L7 Machine Gun
An L7 Machine Gun is seen mounted on an armored car at a checkpoint.
