Is this weapon a 1944 model? Or does the M44 stand for something else? If it is a 1944 model then it is anachronistic as the movie takes place mid 1943. :It's really M44 and yes, it's anachronistic which can be often seen in films. Similar to using 98k in WW1 films. - I took the liberty of capping and adding the missing bits :) --Milkovich Error creating thumbnail: File missing 13:17, 13 January 2012 (CST)
I went to a WWII reenactment today and there was a guy in German gear who looked exactly like how James Coburn did in this movie. It was badass. BeardedHoplite 19:19, 19 June 2011 (CDT)
I was at a Civil War reenactment where I took a small group forward to scout the Confederate lines. We were unable to return to our original place on the line and ended up coming in on the far right flank. As we were running in, my Corporal yelled that we were about to be fired upon by our own troops, who being from a different unit, didn't know who we were. All I could think about was to yell, "Demarcation!" several times. Upon which I heard their officer shout, "Hold your fire, men. It's Steiner's group coming back in!" It was cool that somebody made the connection. Pak43 03:46, 14 January 2012 EDT
Karl 'Schnurrbart' Reisenauer
I noticed that the German corporal is named "Reisenauer" only in the text. In the movie he is however only introduced as "Corporal Schnurrbart". I've added his full name "Karl 'Schnurrbart' Reisenauer" to avoid any misunderstandings. Dudester32 11:56, 8 March 2013 (EST)
