Major Dundee is a 1965 action film set during the time of the Civil War and directed by Sam Peckinpah. The cast included Charlton Heston, Richard Harris, Jim Hutton, and James Coburn.
The following weapons were used in the film Major Dundee:
Handguns
Colt 1860 Army
Richards Cartridge Conversion
Major Amos Charles Dundee (Charlton Heston) and Capt. Benjamin Tyreen (Richard Harris) use Richards Cartridge Conversion Revolvers.
Remington New Army (mocked up Single Action Army)
Sgt. Gomez and Sgt. Chillum are seen carrying what are supposed to be Remington New Army revolvers. In reality, these revolvers appear to be Colt Single Action Army revolvers with a mock cylinder rod added to resemble the Civil War era handgun. (The Colt SAA did not enter service until 1873). Similar mockups were seen in such films as John Wayne's Rio Lobo and The Horse Soldiers.
Rifles
Winchester Model 1892
Many characters in the film are armed with the handguardless Winchester Model 1892s, which is mocked as Henry 1860 rifles.
Trapdoor Springfield 1873
In the hands of a few soldiers in movie are also Trapdoor Springfield 1873's.
Trapdoor Springfield Model 1873 Cavalry Carbine
The U. S. cavalry and also Apaches riders are equipped with "Trapdoor" Springfield Model 1873 cavalry carbines.
Maynard Single Shot Percussion Carbine
Some soldiers from Dundee´s unit carry Maynard Single Shot Percussion Carbines.
Unidentified rifle (mocked as Charleville Musket)
French guards at the fort are armed with unknown rifles, which are modified as Charleville Muskets.
Shotguns
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
Hunters and hitchhikers use 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns.
Others
Howitzer
Lieutenant of artillery Graham (Jim Hutton) supplies for Dundee´s military unit the one lightweight howitzer.
