Talk:Behind Enemy Lines
Can anyone take a look at the T72 tanks (Burnett walks past one while disguised as a Serbian soldier before removing his disguise and running off) and see if they have any machine guns mounted on top of the turret? The T72's used in the film usually come with NSV heavy machine guns mounted on the Tank Commander's hatch on the right side of the turret roof, but I can't remember if the ones in the film had theirs mounted or removed. Thanks in advance.

The Missile
What kind of missile was used to shoot them down? RedJedRevolver 21:03, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- It kind of looked like an SA-9. Anybody? --Funkychinaman 22:07, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- I know the platform, but it's the particular missile, it was like a big flying shotgun. RedJedRevolver 03:22, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- The shootdown is on youtube, and I watched it and paused it a couple of times, and it doesn't look like a real missile, at least not a real Soviet-bloc missile. I looked up all the possible suspects, and nothing matches. And since we're on the subject, the missile that streaked past them probably should've detonated due to the proximity, and since it was near the nose and cockpit, probably should've killed the crew and ended the movie right there. --Funkychinaman 15:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks! It's been bugging me for weeks what that thing was. And yes there should have been proximity detonation. Although big flying shotgun is pretty cool too!RedJedRevolver 00:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Plus the fact that the missile had an unrealistically long flight time and was able to track the target through a crazy amount of evasive maneuvering and countemeasures. Orca1 9904 08:17, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

It was a 9K35 Strela 2.
- Actually I believe it was supposed to be a 9K35 Strela-10, known to NATO countries as the SA-13 Gopher. The most common mobile launch platform is a modified MT-LB, which is what is shown in the film. Also, the Strela-2 is a man-portable system, comparable to the American FIM-92A Stinger. Sasha and Niko Belic resemblence?
I was watching this movie a few days ago and something just came across me. The guy chasing Burnett, Sasha, kinda looks like Niko Belic from GTA4 User: SeanWolf
- You seriously just noticed this? It's been a meme since GTA4's first trailer.-protoAuthor
- The main villain's son on Call of Duty 4 was based on Sasha too--Mpe2010 23:03, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- Definitely. In the game, you can even buy a blue track top that looks almost identical to the one worn by the sniper in that picture. --MattyDienhoff 18:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Niko was based on Sasha. Rockstar even reached out to Vladimir Mashkov (the actor who plays Sasha) about voicing him, but I guess Vladimir didn't take the offer seriously and turned it down since Rockstar, in true themselves fashion, didn't tell him anything about the role, later stating in an interview that he regretted doing so after he learned more about Niko and GTA IV. Model-Swapping Choppers
Just wanted to point out some interesting aircraft trivia about the film; The Hueys that rescue Burnett at the climax of the film change models several times in different shots; in one take they'll be the twin-engined UH-1N while in the next shot they'll be single-engined UH-1H models. Kinda reminds me of how the choppers in Rules of Engagement switched from CH-47 Chinooks to CH-46 Sea Knights and back again. Orca1 9904 22:45, 3 August 2011 (CDT)
Stackhouse and Burnett's parachutes
Do naval aviators use steerable parachutes IRL? I always thought the ones they use were basically the same as static-line chutes like 82nd ABN paratroopers use. Spartan198 (talk) 05:47, 5 July 2020 (EDT)
- I can't say for certain but it kinda makes sense they would. Assuming they're ejecting due to a shoot down they'd want to be as maneuverable as possible as they descend (well as much as one can be there, anyway) to continue avoiding enemy fire. Otherwise regardless of how their craft goes down it'd also figure they'd want to be able to steer away from the crash zone as much as possible both to avoid the obvious fire/explosion hazard but also to put as much distance between them and any hostile forces that would converge on the wreckage.
