A variant of the M14 designed for use as a DMR rifle by the US Marine Corps prior to the adoption of the M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle (see below), featuring a custom olive-drab fiberglass stock with integrated pistol grip and cheek riser. Often used with a Harris bipod.
The military stopped issuing F/A M14's because they were too hard to control, existing rifles were fixed to fire semi only. M14/M1A's come in 3 barrel lengths 22", 18" bush or scout and the 16"socom.
M14 stock system built by Troy Industries, provides a standard M14 with a redesigned gas system and an integrated rail system. Also referred to as SOPMOD M14 (Special Operations Peculiar Modification) or M14 Commando Carbine. Originally designed by Mike Rock under contract of the Naval Surface Warfare Center.
This weapon is actually called Mk. 14 Mod 0 EBR (Mark 14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifle). Even though the internal parts are from an M14, this weapon is not called M14 EBR. This is a common mistake. It was developed for the US Navy SEALs, and thus it is type classified as a "Mark" weapons system.
