M 9 "Bazooka"

They looked a lot like the German panxershreck to me. Any one ellse see the movie? Mandolin 02:23, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Those were M9s based on the sight and the launching mechanism. The Panzerschrek also has a blast shield around the sighting area which were "iron" sights whereas the M9 had a crude optical sight. Also you do see the 3.5" rounds used on the launcher as the rangers assault the town. --Charon68 21:20, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Ok. However, the shield is removable and the "stock" looks like that of the the Panzershreck. Look at this http://cohblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/800px-1670_-_salzburg_-_festung_hohensalzburg_-_panzerschreck_und_panzerfaust.jpg compare that to about 1:34:40 in the movie.

Did Jenny Agutter ever USE her shotgun?

I've been seeing this production still for a while, but I haven't seen the film in years.

Did she hold it on Devlin when she confronted him at the end of the film? I don't remember that well either. --funkychinaman 08:46, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
She actually uses/holds it twice in the movie. The first time she kills Arthur, a local bully who she spurned and who was threatening to reveal Devlin's intentions, and the second time was when she confronted Devlin at the end. I have attached some screen caps. The only "complaint" I have with the movie adaptation was that, in the book, the fallschirmjager have Bren guns and a Jeep with an M2 .50 mounted and Devlin had a suppressed Mauser C96 as well as his own Sten. --Charon68 18:57, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Gewehr 98?

These look to have incorrectly identified. They are too short (look at the proportions of exposed barrel between the handguard and nosecap) and don't seem to have the distinctive lange pattern rearsight. However they've got straight bolt handles, and sling swivels underneath them, so can't be the Kar98k either. IKD 6 Oct 2010

FG42

Sergeant Altmann (Richard Wren) of Steiner's Fallschirmjaeger's can be seen holding a FG42 in the background. Note the magazine, which looks curved, as opposed to the straight magazines actually used by the FG 42.

Possible it's a dressed-up MG13 since I imagine an FG42 would be harder to come by.

It is probably not the Karabiner 98

I agree with the above poster that these are probably NOT karabiner 98.

The rifle barrel is heavily exposed and there is a "bulge" at the rear sight..Plus its got a straight bolt handle. For sure it is a Mauser derivative rifle, but I'm 99% sure its not a karabiner 98. Dudester32 12:23, 8 March 2013 (EST)

According to IMDb, the rail yard scene was filmed in Finland. --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:26, 8 March 2013 (EST)
The rifle does look like a Spanish Mauser, complete with straight bolt and hump: [1] Dudester32 12:28, 8 March 2013 (EST)
Wait, disregard that last. The bulge is alot lower in the Spanish mauser Dudester32 12:33, 8 March 2013 (EST)
