Consistent on all models of P230 and P232, the trigger guard meets with the receiver with less of an angle and continues in a near straight diagonal line towards the front of the pistol, whereas the PPK has a very clear angle between the front of the trigger guard and the receiver, and then another at the front of the receiver. Secondly, the PPK has a more aggressive and notably protruding beavertail, whereas the sloping angles on the P230 are very gradual near the beaver tail. Finally, the P230 has larger and diagonal cocking serrations, whereas the PPK's are tighter and vertical. | It is very possible to confuse it with the far more popular [[Walther PPK]], but there are some identifiable differences. The SIG-Sauer P230 is a compact semi automatic pistol usually chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge. It was originally also available in .32 ACP, but this chambering was eventually dropped. It is available in both blued, Stainless Steel and Two-Tone versions. The P230 was manufactured by SIG between 1977 and 1996 (Sterling Arms also manufactured it from 1975 (whole two years before SIG's own line) to its departure in 1984). The P230 stopped production in 1996, having been replaced by the SIG P232 (an updated version of the P230 with adjustable rear sights and slight changes in frame, slide and barrel, as well as also reintroducing the .32 ACP chambering).
It is very possible to confuse it with the far more popular Walther PPK, but there are some identifiable differences. In fact, P230s sometimes have a Hogue-esque grip with aggressive finger grooves, though it's not always.
The truly simplest way to avoid confusion is by knowing that the SIG P230 wasn't introduced until 1977, and when it was, it was a totally new design, so if any piece of media was made in the 32 year spawn between '45 and '77, it must be a PPK, and not a P230.
The SIG-Sauer P230 and variants can be seen in the following films, television series, video games, and anime used by the following actors: igin
