The Avengers is a 1961 Espionage television series, produced by ABC Television. It focuses on the exploits of secret Agent John Steed (Patrick Macnee), routinely paired up with a female counterpart in order to protect Great Britain from internal and external foes. The show ran from 1961 to 1969 across 6 seasons with a total of 161 episodes. A movie adaptation was released in 1998 starring Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery.
