Revision as of 23:19, 23 February 2010
The SIG-Sauer P220 and variants can be seen in the following films, television series, video games, and anime used by the following actors:
NOTE: In the past, some IMFDB users have mis-spelled "SIG-Sauer" as "Sig Sauer". "Sig Sauer" is not the correct spelling; "SIG" is an acronym for Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft ("Swiss Industrial Society" in German), and thus, all three letters should be capitalized. Also, it is preferred that IMFDB users put a hyphen between "SIG" and "Sauer".

SIG P225 / P6
- Type: Double-Action or Double-Action Only
- Caliber: 9x19mm Luger
- Length, overall: 180 mm
- Barrel length: 98 mm
- Weight unloaded: 740 g
- Capacity: 8 rounds
It should be noted that a variation of the SIG 225 is the SIG P6, a West German police handgun from the 70's and 80's. In some films, it may actually be the SIG P6, rather than the P225, but for the sake of argument, the two are interchangeable.
Notable differences between the SIG 225 and the SIG P6 are that the P6 has a much heavier main-spring (giving it an intensely heavy DA pull) and a cruder feed ramp, thus lowering reliability with hollow point rounds. The P225, being a commercial weapon, was available with tritium night sights, while the P6 has standard iron sights.

Also used in limited numbers by Pilots and Criminal Investigation forces due to need of a more compact weapon and can be authorized for shooters with smaller hands who have trouble gripping the Beretta 92FS properly. SIG P245
- Type: Self-Loading pistol
- Trigger: Double Action
- Caliber: .45 ACP
- Weight unloaded: 815 g
- Length: 185 mm
- Barrel length: 99 mm
- Capacity: 6 rounds
Note: Released to Public in 1999. Discontinued in 2006. Replaced by the SIG P220 Carry or P220 Compact. While the shorter barrel was popular there were complaints about the short grip. The company now sells an extended eight round magazine for the P245. The P220 Carry/Compact is what many feel should have been made all along.
