- This article is about the aircraft machine gun produced in the 1930s. For the World War I light machine gun, see Bergmann MG 15nA.
The MG15 was a 7.92x57mm German machine gun adopted by the Luftwaffe as a flexible-mounted machine gun in the 1930s. By 1941, it was phased out from air service by other machine guns, and some examples were converted to infantry usage near the end of the war.
The MG15 was copied in Japan as the Type 98 flexible-mounted machine gun in aircraft and as the Type 1 machine gun in the Imperial Japanese Navy, but chambered in the 7.7x58mm Arisaka round. Otherwise this weapon is near-identical.
