Ruger P85
The Ruger P85 is a full-sized DA/SA alloy-framed service pistol originally designed to compete in the US Military Joint Small Arms Program. Unfortunately the design wasn't finalized until after the trials. Luckily, the P85 found popularity on the civilian and law enforcement markets but many were recalled after one incident with the firing pin, resulting in a discharge. If the firing pin broke in front of the firing pin block, applying the safety, which dropped the hammer, could transfer enough energy to the broken firing pin to cause a discharge. The P85 was recalled, and a new safety was installed that prevented contact between firing pin and hammer during a decocking operation. This modification was done free of charge. This updated P85 was christened as the P85 MK II in 1989. Other updates included larger safety levers, and improved accuracy. The P85 MK II was produced for several more years, until 1992. By then the P89 was in production (having been introduced the previous year), which is essentially just a re-branded P85 MK II. After the P89 was introduced, there was no longer a need to produce the P85 and it was discontinued.

Ruger P95
Introduced in 1996, the Ruger P95 is essentially a 9mm Ruger P94 with a high strength fiberglass-reinforced polyurethane frame, which reduced the weight of the pistol by four ounces. This was done to compete with other polymer weapons and also for ease of production. The Ruger P95 was popular but eventually was phased out by the Ruger SR series and discontinued in 2013. A variant of the P95 chambered in .45 ACP, the P97, was produced from 1999 to 2004 using the original P95 frame design with glossy finish, no accessory rail and a hooked trigger guard.

Ruger P345
Introduced in 2004, the Ruger P345 is Ruger's replacement for the .45 ACP polymer-framed Ruger P97. It was also Ruger's replacement for the P-Series as a whole. The P345 is designed to accept Ruger P90 and P97 single-stack .45 ACP magazines. The P345 is very similar to the P97, using the same trigger, barrel, extractor and decocking lever but utilizing other different parts, such as an improved slide, hammer and sights. The biggest difference between the P97 and the P345 is a new redesigned polymer frame, which replaced Ruger's high strength fiberglass-reinforced polyeurethane with a more flexible and ergonomic glass-filled nylon frame. Ruger would go on to replace the P345 with the SR-series of handguns, replacing the P345 officially with the SR-45 in 2013. Despite the P345 only being produced in relatively small numbers for a mere nine years, the P345 did pave the way for future Ruger handguns as Ruger still uses the P345's polymer frame material on all of their polymer framed guns today.
