Eskimo is a 1933 American Pre-Code film drama directed by W. S. Van Dyke. The screenplay is based on the novel of the same name by the Danish polar explorer and writer Peter Freuchen, who also appears in the film. Eskimo Mala lives with his family in the Arctic and feeds the tribe as a hunter. With his wife Alba, he sets off for Tjarnak, where a ship has docked. He exchanges fox skins for a rifle. The captain makes Alba drunk, rapes her, thinks she is an animal in the snow and shoots her. Mala avenges Alba's death and kills the captain. However, this gets the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on his trail.
The following weapons were used in the film Eskimo:
Handguns
Unknown Revolvers
Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers including Inspector White (W. S. Van Dyke) and Sergeant Hunt (Joseph Sauers) are seen carrying unknown revolvers in their holsters.
Rifles
Winchester 1892
The Ship Captain (Peter Freuchen) exchanges a Winchester Model 1892 for animal skins with Mala (Ray Mala), who used it during hunting. The Captain's Mate (Edward Hearn) also uses one of these rifles.
Springfield M1903
Some M1903 Springfield bolt-action rifles can be seen in the RCMP's outpost. Inspector White (W. S. Van Dyke) is briefly seen holding a possible sporter variant.
Enfield M1917
RCMP's arsenal also includes several M1917 Enfield rifles standing for British P14 which were used by Sergeant Hunt (Joseph Sauers) and Constable Balk (Edgar Dearing) during the pursuit of Mala.
