The ZB 47 is an experimental submachine gun created by Czechoslovak weapons designer Václav Holek in 1947 for Zbrojovka Brno, based on the previous ZB 1946 prototype. This SMG was meant for crews of tanks and armored vehicles, and therefore the main requirements were compactness and no protruding parts that could affect leaving of damaged tanks. It existed in the standard and paratrooper versions. The first had a wooden stock, the second had a folding metal stock.
Like the other experimental Czech SMGs, it eventually lost the competition to the CZ 447, which further became the Sa 23.
