Indian Actor
I'm not sure we necessarily want to make categories for actors based on their nationality. I think that might complicate things a bit more than we need right now. It's not like we have a category for "German Actor" for guys like Til Schweiger or Jürgen Prochnow, for instance. -MT2008 05:19, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Ghajini
You should have seen the Aye Bachhu video properly because during the scene in which Asin fights of the bad guys, they are seen armed with an unknown AK variant with drum magazine-SB2296

I come from Kolkata, India and will be more than happy to help in your articles.--SB2296 05:10, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
New York
Nice work, but why did you screencap from those pirated copies.First of all they have a poor image quality and secondly they are banned on IMFDB.--SB2296 16:40, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- The new pictures that you uploaded are much better.--SB2296 17:31, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the good new pics of NEW YORK. Now you've seen the movie but I haven't. Is there anyway you can identify the characters (and actors) in the screenshots? Thanks. MoviePropMaster2008 17:14, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Forthcoming films
What about doing the Naseer Khan starer Shadow which released on 21 Aug .Although it is a B grade film it has great guns. Akshay Kumar starer Blue also looks good from its trailer. It releases this Diwali. In the trailer I saw a Bereta 92FS and its Inox model.--SB2296 07:20, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Table format
I changed the table format in the INSAS page since I find your table format confusing and more so the format that I used is the standard layout for any weapon page (see this page) , according to which weapon pages are now being reformatted.--SB2296 11:18, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Sortable tables
Nice! Very nice! I had no idea that kind of template was even possible. -MT2008 14:39, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- We could, but it would take a while. A lot of us right now have gotten a bit lazy when it comes to implementing the table format on the other pages, in part because it takes us forever to do. I personally want to see more of it. -MT2008 (not logged in, but it is me)
English titles
Now I may be corrected on this, but if the film was released internationally in any market with an English title, that title takes precedence. You've been told before, this is an American site with a predominantly English speaking audience. The priority for the title as we can find and view the film comes before the original title. This is the case for all foreign (as in NON American) films. All of Jackie Chan's films, even the ones originally filmed and released in China have the English title listed. Unless the film is world renowned by it's original title (which is a rare case but it happens) and most Westerners are familiar with it only by the original title, then the title stays. Now if the film has never been released anywhere in the world without an English title, then the original title stands. So if your film has never been released outside of India, then the original title stands, but I checked online, and the international release title is what I typed. This differentiates IMFDB from IMDB which maddeningly only lists titles by their original language titles, even if they have to wretchedly spell it phonetically. that is ridiculous, especially for western audiences, since they will never recognize the foreign title (unless the film was released and is widely known by the foreign title). Now if you press that the film was never released with an English title, then I will change it back, but according to IMDB it was. MoviePropMaster2008 19:35, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Re: Hi
Hi, thanks for the compliment! I'm not from India (Canada, actually) but I occasionally watch Bollywood movies and find them very entertaining. --Markit 15:49, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Sortable Table
Sorry, now when I understood it I now really like your table format. Why don't you create such table formats for Video Games, Television and Anime too. Hope it will be made the standard template layout in future.--SB2296 16:10, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
About you
Do you live in Kolkata, and if so where? Are you Bong?--SB2296 16:10, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I stay near Salt Lake.--SB2296 16:30, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Are you the same Ritwikbmca of Wikipedia.--SB2296 16:32, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I happened to visit your user page from the picture of the 22nd July solar eclipse that you uploaded in Wikipedia.--SB2296 16:37, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Is your surname Banerjee by any chance.--SB2296 16:38, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I saw your contribiutions in the Banerjee page of wikipedia and it was easy to conclude that your surname was Banerjee too.--SB2296 16:43, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, my surname is't Banerjee but I'm also a Brahmin. I'm a student, exactly half of your age (I guess you didn't know that) studying in middle school right now--SB2296 09:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC).
- Unfortunately I don't have Xbox or a Playstation but I play my video games in my PC. You can also see that most of my contributions are in the video games section in my user page. Which video games do you have?--SB2296 15:28, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Do you watch Future Weapons on Discover Channel.---SB2296 15:37, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- You can see screencapped and contributed extensively to the Future Weapons page and created the Weapon Masters page. I also want to do the History Channel documentaries but unfortunately they have stopped broadcasting in India.--SB2296 15:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, my DOB is 22.8.1996.--SB2296 15:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- But Fox History & Entertainment is not History Channel and only a few series of History Channel like Modern Marvels are broadcasted on History Channel.--SB2296 16:07, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Happy Mahalaya, to you too and I really like the movie template you created. Why don't you show it to the Sysops of this site, they may like it and standardize it.--SB2296 16:20, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- I saw it. It looks very good but it should be enhanced a bit like by adding borders to each boxes,etc.--SB2296 16:34, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Have you seen the trailer of Acid Factory? Looks exciting.--SB2296 16:54, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Why don't you create a infobox version for video games, television & anime. Then I can apply it to my pages.--SB2296 16:54, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry about the delay in response. The new infobox you put for Kaminey is ok but can simplify it a little bit and you can give the name of the armourer or gun prop master if he is known to you. The TV Infobox is fine.--SB2296 12:16, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about delay in response
You wrote: Why cant we take it as a fully global site instead of an American site? The server may be somewhere in the America but why are you restricting the site as an American only. the answer is simply, because it is an American site, it is appropriate to apply American standards. IMDB chooses to do all titles in the original language and also phonetically. That's THEIR decision. And I think it is ridiculous, but IMDB is an international site with servers in other countries. IMFDB is not, so having 'foreigners' i.e. anyone who is foreign to the U.S. complaining about it can be irritating. Also IMDB's decision to go completely native tongue is ridiculous. For example in order to see the entry for Jackie Chan's movie Police Story 3, IMDB lists it as Ging chat goo si 3: Chiu kup ging chat. I don't think a single person here would ever refer to Jackie Chan's Police Story 3 as Ging chat goo si 3. These are the rules and standards when I joined. A set standard is necessary. Constantly changing the rules to please any one person in other countries would result in a never ending rules listing. Even now we have problems codifying the rules, so many of the rules are known by hanging around on the site long enough, but you're not questioning about those issues.
On a side note: if you are going to introduce Bollywood films to IMFDB, it would be good if you screencapped ALL of the movies listed. The 'hostility' to movies that are not screencapped is pretty evident, even more so if they are foreign films that we (most American viewers) would Not have seen, nor would have in our DVD collections. British films are easier since they are commonly available in DVD stores here. But we have people listing French, Chinese and Indian films that I can't even track down. So the onus is on the guy creating the page to screencap it to the standards of IMFDB. Your New York Page is good, your LOG Kargil is getting very good. It is just some of the other pages are weak per IMFDB standards. I am looking forward to your screencapping of all the Bollywood films you submit (or at least hopefully someone else who has these films will). There is nothing more irritating that a movie that has no screencaps and doesn't fulfill the quality standards of IMFDB. Thanks for your contributions. Your movie template
It's nice ... BUT it also entails that the users have to put in more work. They're already lazy. I like the sortable table. The movie template is helpful because it lists the country of origin, but we're not IMDB, so I don't think we need the director and stars. Sure I don't have anything against it, but I certainly won't be doing it. It adds yet another LAYER of stuff to do to complete a page. Personally I would prefer that the users screenshot their movies and clearly list the firearms than try to make IMFDB into a low rent version of IMDB. If someone is willing to update all the movie templates on the pages than I have nothing against it.MoviePropMaster2008 04:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
You're gone I hear
I hear that you're gone because you're pissed off that IMFDB mods apparently don't take foreign films seriously enough (your words, not mind). For one, You constantly whine that we have the word 'International' in our title. That's FALSE. The title of this site is Internet Movie Firearms Data Base, not International. Two, we would embrace more Bollywood pages if they weren't so poorly done. I think perhaps ONE is well done and well researched, but most of the others are crap. You can help raise the esteem of Bollywood films by putting the same amount of effort that other members do, but so far, we have not had anyone (except for perhaps one bollywood page) do decent movie pages. So your complaint that us 'high and mighty Americans' are keeping you down is false. Do good work and your page will be applauded. Apparently you don't do good work so the result is less than enthusiastic reception to your pages. You stroll onto a site and essentially DEMAND that we become an international site. Would you do that to a Russian based movie page? IMFDB actually welcomes films which are not either British or American, however, I am VERY disappointed in the quality of pages made by MANY foreign members. If your pages didn't suck, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I look forward to your own dedicated Bollywood Guns in Films page if you choose to do so. But don't start arguing that an American site has to somehow change to suit your view of the world. MoviePropMaster2008
Your Movie Template
Sorry I did not get back to you sooner but I have been working on some films myself. Your movie template is great but it need one more item on it. The studios that made the films as IMFDB is now being used to archive some weapons used in earlier films as those histories are gone. I was thinking the same thing that you came up with. If you need any other input let me know. - Phoenixent 22:32, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
