When your ban expires for that charming attitude of yours, I suggest you take up the issue with User:MoviePropMaster2008, who is the one who uploaded those images (of weapons he personally owns). There is a standing order not to replace his images (which are licensed specifically to this site) with others. Evil Tim 02:10, 22 December 2011 (CST)
- Well, now it isn't going to expire. All power to you, I guess. Since you're obviously going to read this anyway, though:
- The image was reverted because MPM's images are licensed to and taken specifically for the wiki (unlike the majority of our other images which are under a blanket Fair Use unless otherwise stated); they should not be replaced casually with others because they, unlike random web images, actually belong to us. This does not, however, mean their descriptions are automatically correct; I'm not entirely sure what mental gymnastics got you from "don't replace the image without consulting the uploader" to "the image descriptions are set in stone by the uploader."
- You did not message MPM directly. You left a message on a random image talk page without notifying him at all. Your "tacit admission" was most likely simply him not seeing it; image talk pages are a terrible place to leave messages on wikis since people do not routinely check them, especially if, as with you, the user doesn't even bother to create a new heading for their new topic of conversation.
- I messaged MPM and asked him to examine your post on my talk page; I'll freely admit I don't know enough in either direction to make the call, but he owns the guns and therefore is in a far better position to explain the logic behind the current descriptions; discussion with him would allow you both to explain your reasoning and determine who was correct. This is called basic politeness. I imagine he will make the changes himself if he decides they have merit, something which could have been done without resorting to bans if you hadn't resorted to calling an admin names the instant you didn't get your own way.
- Next time, try asking people why they reverted your change rather than telling them why they did it and calling them names. That way you're more likely to continue to be allowed to contribute in whatever place that is. Evil Tim 06:32, 22 December 2011 (CST)
