I am a psychiatrist and specialize in child and adolescent. My excitement with guns began in Oklahoma when I would go dear hunting and my favorite quail hunting. I always had a shot gun or a 30 30 under my bed. My Uncle had an arsenal of weapons including ooze's and later a 50 cabler. He had a shooting range in his basement. We would go down and shoot all of his weapons which at the time I knew very little about them. Recently, I started shooting at the range at the strong encouragement of my uncle. This time around I have gotten very obsessed with them. I have bought a Kimber Ultra carry II and a Sig. 229. I plan on getting an AR soon. I have had numerous hobbies from track driving in Porsche's, scuba diving, being a foodie, a wine connoisseur of sorts, electronic geek and of course I am on top of my field because I am an over achiever. ALso both of my parents were psychiatrist including my brother. This hobby serves another purpose which is protection and defense. I love the history portion of guns and shooting just seems to make me a more well rounded individual. I am all about safety too, as I have young children and in a couple of years I will get then instructional education about it's safety and protection. I shot a .22 at the city dump at the age of 8 and now shooting have brought back my fascination with weapons. I would like to be able to have the knowledge of weapons like I have of all of the above including the ability to talk about the various handguns, rifles, shotguns, and AR's, much like I talk about sports. I need a reference in order to discuss such topics. I also have a lot of kids that come in and talk about Black Ops. I can communicate with them better know about weapons and the safety and protective uses. Not be glorified like in a lot of movies that they are in.
