UT2004: Ballistic Weapons
Ballistic Weapons is a unique mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 which adds an absolutely massive amounts of new firearms to the game. The mod is implemented through a number of mutators or gametypes of the player's choosing and replaces the stock weaponry of UT2004. Ballistic Weapons, or BW, strikes a balance between a realistic shooter and a sci-fi arena style shooter. Players get to choose from over 47 unique weapons, from "ordinary" assault rifles and shotguns, to alien armaments and even devastating weapons like the minigun, flame thrower or mobile artillery. The expansive mod adds an extensive weapon system with reloading, recoil, iron-sights, dual-wielding, scopes and more, as well as an elaborate blood and gore system featuring all sorts of messy effects. The mod is also extremely customizable and adds tons of new features such as crosshair configuration, a weapon selection UI, advanced locational damage and numerous weapon spawning and loadout methods.
Weapon detail in Ballistic Weapons is extremely high, with weapons keeping track of chambered ammunition, barrel positioning, barrel length, gun weight, and a multitude of other factors. Every gun handles differently and it's up to the player to discover the pros and cons of each weapon.
The mod is maintained by both the development company Runestorm and a team of independent mod developers.
The following firearms can be seen in the video game Ballistic Weapons:
Handguns
Desert Eagle
The AH-208 "Eagle" Assault Pistol and AH-250 "Hawk" Assault Pistols are both Desert Eagles. The AH-208 variant comes equipped with a BA-2 Laser Pointer mounted on the front, while the AH-250 variant comes with a telescopic sight and compensator. While both are chambered in .44 Magnum, they lack the fluted barrel of the actual .44 variant, and the gun itself appears to be a mix between the Mark XIX and Mark VII Desert Eagles. The ingame weapon comes in a variety of finishes, from silver, to black, two-tone, and even gold plating.
Beretta 92FS Inox
The T9CN "Hammer" Machine Pistol is a fully automatic Beretta 92FS Inox. The gun can switch from automatic to semi and burst despite lacking a selector switch. It is chambered in 9x19mm Jacketed Hollow Point and can rarely be found in two-tone and black colors. The T9CN Hammer can also be dual-wielded.
Glock 19
The GRS9 and GRSXX are both 3rd generation Glock 19 pistols with cutting lasers mounted on the accessory rails. The black variants (GRS9) can fire in semi-automatic and a 3 round burst, despite lacking a selector switch, and the gold slide variant (GRSXX) can even fire in full auto. The Glocks share the same 9x19mm JHP ammo with the T9CN Hammers.
Smith & Wesson 1006
The RS8 Pistol is a Smith & Wesson 1006, and is chambered in the same 10mm cartridge. Ingame it is stronger than the 9mm pistols, but weaker than the .45s and any handguns using specialized ammo like JHP rounds.
Heckler & Koch Mark 23
The Heckler & Koch Mark 23 appears as the MK-23 ingame. It is chambered in .45 ACP, and is one of the best pistols in the game in terms of accuracy and firepower. It can accept a suppressor and be dual wielded with other small pistols.
Revolvers
LeMat Revolver
A LeMat Revolver appears as the Wilson 41-DB, a golden and engraved 9 shot revolver with a small shotgun shell in the middle of the drum. The player can fire and reload both the regular shells and shotgun shell independently, and will cock the hammer back after dryfiring, but not otherwise.
"D49 Cobra"
The fictional D49 Cobra is a double barreled .44 revolver. It appears to be based off the Colt Anaconda. The revolver will actually misfire if the player misuses the double shot feature, as the game keeps track of which bullets have been fired and where they're positioned in the drum. Reloading with less than 6 rounds in your inventory will also correctly show the remaining bullets in the drum.
Submachine Guns
Intratec AB-10
The Intratec AB-10 appears in BW as the XRS-10. Unlike the real AB-10, the XRS-10 can mount a suppressor, is fully automatic, and is chambered in .40.
"Fifty-9"
The Fifty-9 is a flamboyant 9mm machine pistol that appears to be a blade-equipped, pimped-out version of the Mac-10 with a Sa. Vz. 61 Skorpion wire stock. The weapon also has a blue muzzle flash and blue tracers despite using standard 9mm ammunition, supposedly due to advanced future tracer technology.
Assault Rifles
M4 Carbine
The M4 Carbine appears in Ballistic Weapons as the MJ51 Carbine. It is one of few weapons directly modeled after a real weapon. The MJ51 is locked to 3-round burst like the true M4, and its STANAG mags are not compatible with the AR-15 styled M50. The MJ51 in BW can mount a fictional Chaff rifle grenade that can be launched with live ammunition from the weapon.
"M50"
The M50 is a fictional assault rifle that most closely resembles a highly modified Colt AR-15 Sporter Carbine. The weapon's unique stock and grip are not present on any known AR-15 setups, however the barrel length, overall shape, and front sight placement indicate that it was likely modeled with an AR-15 as a reference. The long barreled "M900" grenade launcher underneath the gun most closely resembles a futuristic Cobray 37mm Launcher. The gun also features a high tech camera screen on top of the charging handle and a laser sight on top of the grenade launcher. While the laser cannot be used, players can place and watch their cameras by pressing the game's special fire key.
Battle Rifles
"AK490"
The fictional AK490 is represented ingame as a mash up of several Kalashnikov style rifles, most like the AK47 and AKMSU rifles due to the flat stock and the placement of the front sight. The rifle is fully ambidextrous and is chambered in 7.62mm rounds that feed out of a straight magazine not seen on any AK rifles. Interestingly enough, the AK490 fires green tracers as opposed to the red ones seen on the vast majority of the guns. It also features a replaceable ballistic knife bayonet under the barrel, like the KSI-74 of Perfect Dark: Zero.
Mk.14 Mod 0
The SRS-900 and SRS Mod-2 are both Mk 14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifles. The SRS-900 is an automatic, scoped battle rifle while the SRS Mod-2 is a civilian version that is locked to semi-automatic and mounts a holosight.
"M46"
The M46 is a fictional battle rifle chambered in .310. It vaguely resembles an M16, however only in shape. Unlike the MJ51 and M50, this weapon uses the bolt assist as a charging handle, and lacks the standard charging handle located near the carry handle. Its underbarrel proximity mine launcher is also bolt-operated, and not fired by a conventional trigger.
Machine Guns
"FG50"
The fictional .50 cal FG50 most closely resembles an FG42 equipped with synthetic furniture and a drum magazine. The FG50 is depicted as a man-portable HMG that fires incendiary .50 cal rounds. Like the FG42, the FG50 generates a large amount of recoil and is almost impossible to control.
