Type 89 naval gun

The 12.7cm/40 Type 89 was a Japanese heavy anti-aircraft gun introduced before World War II. Well-regarded as an anti-air weapon, it replaced the 12cm/45 Type 10 as the standard heavy AA gun aboard cruisers, battleships, and carriers, as well as serving as the primary armament of the Matsu-class destroyers. The vast majority of Type 89s were used twin mounts, though the Matsu-class featured a forward single-mount and rear twin. Some Type 89s were also used on land, both twins and singles.
