True Detective Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective from the fictional California city of Vinci, Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff detective, Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrolman, and Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a career criminal. Together, they must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of the murder of a corrupt city manager. Nic Pizzolato, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1, scripted all eight episodes of Season 2, and several episodes were directed by Justin Lin . The series aired on HBO on June 2015.
