The Thing Station Survival is a short 2011 freeware horror FPS created to promote the the prequel film to the original John Carpenter 1982 classic The Thing film, it was one of two freeware games made to promote the movie, the other being a tie-in event with the MMORPG Entropia Universe.

The game is Unity-based and used to be able to be played online or downloaded and can still be downloaded from sites that have archived the original download.

The following weapons appear in the video game The Thing Station Survival:

Unknown Revolver

An unknown revolver is available and is called ".44 Calibre Magnum" in-game and is in slot 3.

FN FAL

Claimed to be a "FAL STG-58 Automatic Rifle" in the game's briefing screen, the player's slot 2 weapon is a wood-furniture FN FAL variant with an unusable launcher attached. Despite the name, it lacks the distinct front handguard of the StG-58. The handguard possesses two vent holes like the L1A1 SLR.

M2 Flamethrower

While claimed to be an M2A1-7 Flamethrower, the M2 Flamethrower appears as the player's default weapon in slot 1 and is used by their unnamed character in third-person at the start of the game, before the boss fight and in the special death animations when killed. It oddly re-uses the M79's holding and reload animations and each reload holds over a full minute's worth of fuel when continuously firing (this also means the player's hand is clipping through the foregrip when held). It can be identified as the M2 by having the foregrip with the trigger from the M2, that isn't present on the M2A1-7.

M79 grenade launcher

The M79 grenade launcher appear as the player's slot 4 weapon and the final firearm present. It is the only weapon capable of dealing damage to the player, as the flamethrower's flames cannot hurt the player.
