Many of the actors, like Garcia, Carbonell, Murciano, Steven Bauer , Tomás Milián , Julio Oscar Mechoso, Tony Plana and Victor Rivers were either born in Cuba or are of Cuban descent. Obviously, filming on location in Havana was out of the question, so filming was done in Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
