The Island (Ostrov)

The Island (Ostrov) is a 2006 Russian drama movie directed by Pavel Lungin. It depicts the story of a man who had to kill his comrade during World War II in order to save himself when the boat where the two were sailors was captured by a German ship. Thirty years later, he becomes an Orthodox monk in a small monastery in North Russia. He still carries his sin and prays for mercy and forgiveness.

Trivia
The training ship Baltika, formerly a Project 265-class minesweeper, appears in the movie as a Kriegsmarine patrol ship.
