The International is a 2009 thriller film directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). The film stars Clive Owen as Interpol agent Louis Salinger and Naomi Watts as New York County Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whittman. Together the pair tries to take on a corrupt bank, that serves as an arms dealer to various corrupt governments and organizations.
The following weapons were used in the film The International:
Inspector Alberto Cerutti (Alessandrio Fabrizi) carries a Beretta 92FS as his sidearm. He gives it to Interpol Agent Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) when he pursues a fleeing assassin in Milan.
Beretta 92FS Inox
The Italian Carabinieri captain (Luigi Di Fiore) carries a Beretta 92FS Inox as his sidearm. He uses it most notably to kill an assassin in Milan. In real life, the Arma dei Carabinieri officers would have been using the Beretta 8000 Cougar or the standard-issue Beretta 92FS/SB.
Smith & Wesson Model 66 Snub
NYPD Detective Bernie Ward (Jack McGee) carries a snubnose Smith & Wesson Model 66 as his service weapon. He is most notably seen pulling it on a suspect at the Guggenheim museum. After Ward is injured, Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) uses the Model 66 until it runs out of ammo.
Glock 17
The assassin only known as "The Consultant" (Brian F. O'Byrne) carries a Glock 17 as his sidearm in the film. He is most notably seen wielding it during the shootout at the Guggenheim Museum, pairing with Salinger to fend off the IBBC hit team. A cop is also seen with a holstered Glock later on in the film.
CZ 75
Wilhelm Wexler (Armin Mueller-Stahl) carries a CZ 75 with adjustable rear sights as his sidearm. After his departure, Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) takes it from him, and uses it to chase IBBC chairman Jonas Skarssen (Ulrich Thomsen) in Istanbul.
Browning Hi-Power
A hitman, credited only as "Italian Gentleman" (Franco Trevisi) uses a nickel plated Browning Hi-Power near the end of the film in Istanbul. He uses it to dispose of an important target.
Sphinx AT-2000P
The assassin, credited as the Milan Sniper (Giorgio Lupano) is briefly seen wielding an Sphinx AT-2000P after the Calvini assassination.
Submachine Guns & Machine Pistols
Brügger & Thomet TP-9
All of the hitmen employed by IBBC wield Brügger & Thomet TP-9 machine pistols during the shootout in the Guggenheim museum in New York. The first gunman is seen with a suppressed version. The TP-9 is a semi-automatic civilian version of the full-auto Brügger & Thomet MP-9 machine pistol. The guns used in the film have been converted to automatic fire, altough some of the hitmen use their guns in semi-automatic fashion. Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) also picks up a couple of the TP-9s during the shootout, and somewhat realistically, has to reload twice. There is a scene in the film, where Salinger picks up one of the machine pistols and fires it semi-automatically, but then supposedly turns the gun to full-auto fire.
Beretta PM12S
Italian Carabinieri police officers are seen with Beretta PM12S submachine guns in Italy, during the political rally. A couple of carabinieri officers are also seen with PM12S submachine guns when they are guarding the Milan square.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Carabinieri police officers are seen armed with Heckler & Koch MP5A3s when they raid the assassin's hotel room in Milan, and an officer shoots open the hotel room door.
Rifles
Sauer 200/202
The Consultant (Brian F. O'Brynne) is seen preparing and firing a take-down Sauer 200/202 in .300 Win Mag with a black composite stock and a suppressor before the assassination of Umberto Calvini. The Milan Sniper (Giorgio Lupano) is also seen with a Sauer 200/202 during the actual assassination of Umberto Calvini. The Consultant also uses a Sauer 200/202 as the second assassin during the Umberto Calvini hit. The rifle is explicitly referred to as a "Sauer 200" by Salinger when he examines the angle from which the bullets were fired.
AK Variant
An African gunman is seen with an unidentified AK-47 variant in a news broadcast. It is higly likely that the footage is actual stock news footage, and the person wielding it has a real, live-firing AK in his hands.
