The Event
|
The Event was an American science fiction action series that aired for 22 episodes in the US on NBC from 2010 to 2011. The premise of the show concerned a race of aliens (referred to as "Sleepers") who had arrived on Earth in the 1940s, and their (possibly illegal) detention by the U.S. government at a top-secret prison in Alaska. The events of the show were told from three perspectives: The administration of newly-elected US President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood, as a thinly-veiled stand-in for then-U.S. President Barack Obama), the Sleepers and their leader Sophia (Laura Innes), and Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), a young man who becomes involved in the conspiracy after his girlfriend is kidnapped. Despite the interesting premise (essentially a science-fiction metaphor for the U.S. War on Terror) and generous support from NBC, the series encountered poor ratings during its run and was cancelled after the end of its first season.
The following weapons were used in the television series The Event:
Pistols
SIG-Sauer P226
The SIG-Sauer P226 is one of the most common weapons on the show, appearing for the first time in the pilot episode, "I Haven't Told You Everything" (S1E01) in the hands of Air Marshal Dan Taylor (Gonzalo Menendez). It is subsequently used by many other characters on the show, including government agents, mercenaries, and sleepers. Thomas (Clifton Collins, Jr.) uses a P226 in "Inostranka" (S1E12), and Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) uses one in "One Will Live, One Will Die" (S1E20).
Glock 19
In "I Haven't Told You Everything" (S1E01), Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) uses a Glock 19 to try and get into the cockpit of the hijacked airliner. The Glock 19 is also carried by Vicky Roberts (Taylor Cole) as her main sidearm for most of the show.
SIG-Sauer P239
FBI Special Agent Collier (Heather McComb) uses a SIG-Sauer P239 as her sidearm in several episodes, including "Protect Them from the Truth" (S1E03) and "A Matter of Life and Death" (S1E04).
Browning Hi-Power Mk. III
The Browning Hi-Power Mk. III is used by Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) in several episodes after he takes it from one of Dempsey's mercenaries in "Your World To Take" (S01E09).
Kimber Warrior
Simon Lee (Ian Anthony Dale) uses a Kimber Warrior (sometimes suppressed) as his main sidearm throughout the show. The Kimber is also used by Blake Sterling (Zeljko Ivanek) in several later episodes. The show's armorers used Kimbers that had previously been used on The Unit.
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS is used by U.S. military personnel throughout the series (standing in for the M9). Blake Sterling (Zeljko Ivanek) uses a Beretta in "Inostranka" (S1E12) after receiving it from a scared U.S. Army corporal.
Glock 17
Glock 17s are used throughout the show by various characters. Both Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) and Vicky Roberts (Taylor Cole) use them in the last few episodes of the series.
Heckler & Koch USP
In "For The Good of Our Country" (S1E08), Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) takes a full-size Heckler & Koch USP from one of Dempsey's mercenaries. It is later used by Leila (Sarah Roemer) to coerce a doctor into helping Sean after he sustains a gunshot wound.
SIG-Sauer P232
Dempsey (Hal Holbrook) uses a suppressed SIG-Sauer P232 pistol in several episodes.
Rifles
M24
An M24 sniper rifle is used by Carter (D.B. Sweeney) in "Casualties of War" (S1E05). He even refers to it as an M24.
M4A1
The M4A1 carbine is used by U.S. military personnel, FBI HRT, and CIA SOG operators throughout the series. The M4s used by regular infantry and SWAT units on the show tend to have M68 Aimpoint optics and AN/PEQ-2 IR designators, while the M4s used by Special Forces units tend to have newer accessories such as TA31RCO ACOG optics and AN/PEQ-15 IR designators.
Heckler & Koch G36K
During the raid on the Inostranka prison facility in "Inostranka" (S1E12), the team of Sleepers led by Thomas (Clifton Collins, Jr.) are armed with Heckler & Koch G36Ks. It is these weapons that enable a soldier on the base to tell that they are imposters. These rifles subsequently appear in the hands of Sleepers throughout the show. Most of the G36Ks on the show have the G36C rail-top carry handle, though a few have the standard G36V carry handle.
Heckler & Koch G36C
In addition to G36Ks, the Sleepers also use many Heckler & Koch G36Cs, most notably in "Face Off" (S1E15) during the church siege. Some of the non-firing G36Cs on the show appear to be airsoft replicas (they have orange muzzles that are crudely painted-over with black paint).
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5K
In "Protect Them From The Truth" (S1E03), a mercenary disguised as an FBI Agent uses a Heckler & Koch MP5K with an extended barrel (but no PDW folding stock) in a massacre at the FBI field office. This same weapon is used by Agent Lee (Ian Anthony Dale) during the convoy ambush in "Turnabout" (S1E13) to fight off the Sleeper gunmen.
Heckler & Koch MP5SD3
Sleepers armed with the Heckler & Koch MP5SD3 infiltrate the Alaskan prison in "And Then There Were More" (S1E11).
