Talk:The New Babylon
I'm not sure but still have some guesses. Chassepot rifle hardly can appear in a Russian-filmed movie (they never apppeared in Russia) so I think that these rifles are French Gras M1874 rifle that were purchased by Russian Army in France during the Great War due to shortage of Mosin rifles (as many as 450,000 according to some sources). Gras is generally based on Chassepot and looks very similar. Also Kropatschek rifles appear to be French Gras-Kropatschek version, also purchased by Russia (105,000). In 1920s they were still available for movie makers. Greg-Z (talk) 13:39, 18 October 2015 (EDT)
Yes you are right. I had compared both rifles and have decided to use the Chassepot 1866/74, because I couldn't find any difference.
Thanks for your help.
The Kropatschek rifle is a French model, indeed, but I couldn't find a good picture of this model so I choose on of the Portuguese model 1886. --HighPhigh (talk) 13:07, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
