Mossberg 500

That is not a Mossberg, the foregrip and mag tube cap are all wrong. Are there any other pics of this? :) MoviePropMaster2008 20:47, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

I think it's a Smith & Wesson 916. --Dillinger 20:53, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I zoomed in the shot. Its' definitely a Winchester Model 1200 with the old style police forend. Even though We don't have a pic of the 1200 with that style of furniture on IMFDB it IS the same shotgun and I have one just like that. What threw me off was that the furniture looked really dark, and all examples that I have of the 1200 in that configuration had almost blonde/light brown wood. Check out the 'diamond' angle at the rear of the receiver into the buttstock. It is definitely a Winchester. MoviePropMaster2008 23:04, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

The Unknown gun

I think it might be a paintball gun. Excalibur01

Soldier Surrogates

I wondered if there's a continuity when we see soldiers on the front line with the featureless "G.I. Joe" bots, and then we see soldiers with the Colonel with Surrogates that are unique to each other. Excalibur01

Maybe the GI Joe bots battle scene were actually live fire exercise (rather than using MILES like we do today). Or maybe the Colonel's team is a special ops unit and therefore equipped with more advanced Surrogates.--Wildcards 20:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

They sent in human troops because they knew that the Dreads had the Surrogate killer weapon. --Ben41 20:56, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I think that was a real battle. Life fire exercise and destroying bots costs money. It's like let's have a drone battle with live ammo. Well if they are human troops, then that means that there are a lot of people not living in the Dreads that are ok. I mean they portray the Dreads as this slum. I can see a lot of people walking around with the bots, but doesn't mean ordinary people can't walk among them. And how could not wanting to use a bot turn you into some ghetto living scum. Excalibur01

It was definitely a training exercise because the Colonel tells the soldier operating the surrogate to look for the snipers next time. When the troops engage the Dreads, one of them gets wounded in the leg and feels pain, so they're definitely human. In the film, the Dread areas are set up so that the humans can be in a place where there aren't any surrogates around them. Due to the isolation, it probably means that they don't get any resources to improve or get up the areas. --Ben41 12:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Norinco Type 56

Are you sure that what the guy in front of the Elementary School holds in his hands is a Type 56? Note that the front part of the sights begins above the front of the handguard, not above the muzzle as it is with all those AK-and-clone rifles. I however have no idea what it is instead, just some faint associations with the H&K G3 series, or the CETME.-- Benny Frandsen 16:50, 2 July 2012 (CDT)

I think it is an AK pattern rifle of some sort, looks like there is the AK scope mount on the left side of the gun above the trigger area. Also, it looks like there could be a small pump at the front of the handguard with the horizontal slot for the pump to run in going back along the handguard, so at a guess I would say it could be a Romanian PAR:

Romanian PAR - 7.62x39mm
Note the matching front sight, the rear sight on the dust cover and the design of the front trunion where a traditional AK sight would be. --commando552 06:33, 3 July 2012 (CDT)
