Why this show has gun mistakes

Having worked with people who have worked with the production staff of this show, most of the above the line crew are elite, young, hip metrosexual British Film & TV people (under the age of 25) who have absolutely NO interest in firearms or the military. They commonly ask for the WRONG gun specifically, they are disinterested in input from their tech advisers, they routinely have the wrong uniforms or gear (because they ASKED for it specifically), come up with laughable tactics and actions, and their props/costumes/weapons budget are minuscule. To their credit, the BBC (who co-produced this series with Nat GEO) sacked a bunch of these morons at the end of the first season. MPM

They use airsoft guns for the most part it is especially noticeable in HD

I'm not going to edit the main page, as I'm not sure of this point but- Having just seen the episode 'SAS Jungle Rescue', I'm pretty sure that they are using (poor airsoft replica) L85A1 and not the listed A2. Either way, in 2001 no British units had actually recieved the A2. Half of the troops seem to be wearing the wrong camo too. The UN troops using L85s - I didn't know that the Jordinians used the L85...
