Unidentified rifles
The rifle on ShanghaiExpress-Rifle1.jpg seems to be a Mosin 91, judging by the shape of the magazine. Other rifles in this section make me think about Berthier though I'm not sure. --Greg-Z (talk) 07:16, 1 September 2021 (EDT)
- Thank you! I found a promotional picture showing a very slightly better view of one unknown rifle, maybe this will help. The rifle on ShanghaiExpress-Rifle5.jpg (lower half in the center) reminds me of a Gewehr 88 judging by the rear part and the rear sight but it has a different barrel and muzzle.--HighPhigh (talk) 03:17, 2 September 2021 (EDT)
- I agree, the rifle of Rifle5 is very likely a G88. As for me, the front section of the barrel matches G88, it's thick enough. I processed the image a little:
I guess that the G88 magazine can be seen. BTW, I can try to enhance other screenshots if it would be useful for identification. --Greg-Z (talk) 03:42, 2 September 2021 (EDT)
Let's see what can be seen now:

- Also the grasping groove looks like a Mosin Nagant, so could we say these are modified Mosins?--HighPhigh (talk) 05:05, 2 September 2021 (EDT)
- I'll make a cautious guess that these Mosins are US manufactured (Remington and Westinghouse) Russian contract rifles that were sold to private citizens. Many of these rifles were rechambered for .30-06 what could lead to differences in appearance. --Greg-Z (talk) 05:31, 2 September 2021 (EDT)
- I agree to that, I'll list them as Mosins. One more thing, my first guess about the Gew. 88 may now be wrong, it could also be a US Mosin, what do you think?--HighPhigh (talk) 07:02, 2 September 2021 (EDT)
