SIG SG 550

The SG 551, 552 & 553 are all variants of the SG 550 thus I moved them to the Variants column. The SG 550 SR is technically a variant as well but i think it is substantially different enough that it will help to have a picture. --Zackmann08 13:49, 17 January 2012 (CST)

Using that logic, the P228/P229 would be under the variants for the P226. I think that because the barrel lengths are noticeably different, they should have their own section, although the 553 should be under the 552 variants.----JazzBlackBelt-- 21:54, 17 January 2012 (CST)

Rather than variants of the 550, the 551, 552, and 556 are all seperate models BASED on the 550. The way SIG operates is when they have a winning design, they produce more models based on that design, while continuing to produce the original.----JazzBlackBelt-- 21:57, 20 January 2012 (CST)

Are the SIG 550 series rifles even made by SIG Sauer? I thought they were SIG arms which used to be a part of SIG Sauer but is now a separate company. --cool-breeze 16:11, 17 January 2012 (CST)

I believe the company history and structure of SIG is very complicated. I think the original company was just called SIG, but it merged with a german company for legal reasons I don't remember and became SIG Sauer GmbH. The American branch used to be called SIGARMS, but changed in 2007 to SIG Sauer Inc. The original Swiss company SIG was also bought out in 2000 and is now called Swiss Arms, which is the company that currently makes the 550 series. I think that there are currently 3 companies that exist, Swiss Arms (Swiss part of the company originally called SIG), SIG Sauer GmbH (which is the German company that represents Swiss Arms internationally), and SIG Sauer Inc (the US company). So to answer your question, I have no f***ing idea where they should be. Depending on whether we are going by original company name or what the company goes by now makes a big difference, but I would put them all on the same page as unless you are familiar with the internal manoeuvrings of SIG you wouldn't know where to look for them, and it all started off as the same company anyway. Doubtless some of what I have written above is wrong, the whole SIG company structure gives me a headache, so anyone feel free to correct me. --commando552 17:30, 17 January 2012 (CST)

With all due respect to my good buddy commando552, there is simply no way I am going to attempt to read that paragraph after a 12 hour day. I think that my head would explode. :-) The original purpose of these pages (they were my idea...), was to help identify weapons used in a movie. You may see a revolver for example and know it is a S&W but not be sure which model. Instead of having to look through each page one at a time, you can now go straight to the S&W page and browse them on one page. My point being that for the ORIGINAL purpose of these pages, it doesn't matter too much whether the SIG SG is made by SIG Sauer or by SIG Arms. It is known to be a "SIG", thus people can look at the page to get more info about it. Just my 2 cents. --Zackmann08 20:01, 17 January 2012 (CST)

SIG p220 compact

But the carry p220 hasn't appeared in any media these pages have plenty of variants that haven't appeared in any media I've read the RSP but i figured since its on other pages i figured it was all the variants the H&k page the hk45 ct never appeared in anything its not even listed on the hk45 page other examples as well sorry if i assumed but does the mean those variants and other examples should be erased on other company pages ? --Blueboy1600 (talk) 19:27, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

MCX is not MPX

MCX family is listed among the assault rifles, but links to MPX family. While MPXes are sweet SMGs in pretty typical SMG calibers, MCXes are noticeably heavier carbines in totally different calibers, so this link is just misleading. Can someone more skilled please bring up a proper MCX page, worthy of the great SIG name? amyodov (talk) 11:07, 19 September 2016 (EDT)
