Naming
Why OTs-38 Stechkin? Igor Yakovlevich Stechkin was the designer of the gun, so the name must be written Stechkin OTs-38. We don't write "M1911 Colt" or "PPK Walther", so why in this case the name of the designer is put behind the index? Other OTs guns have personal names (Groza, Pernach, Kiparis etc.), but this case if different. (Yes, I see that En Wiki call it OTs-38 Stechkin but no reliable source for such naming is listed in the wiki article). --Greg-Z (talk) 10:02, 18 August 2021 (EDT)
- Yeah, the OTs-38 doesn't have given names unlike some of the other OTs guns (most in fact don't have nicknames according to public knowledge); giving it a "Stechkin" name is just confusing things and misleading readers. The page should just be named OTs-38. --Wuzh (talk) 10:11, 18 August 2021 (EDT)
- "M1 Garand" --VladVladson (talk) 14:20, 18 August 2021 (EDT)
- Hi, creator of the page here, I have never seen the name of this gun written without Stechkin at the end, so I assumed it was always meant to have it at the end. Even in writing and videos, it was written or spoken as "OTs-38 Stechkin". I understand the reason why this was changed, as it is confusing. --JackalUnderscore (talk) 18:01, 18 August 2021 (EDT)
- It was probably a confusion coming from the fact that the name "OTs-38" is often followed by "Stechkin special revolver" in descriptions (or "Stechkin silent revolver"), and people were assuming that "Stechkin" is part of the gun's name and were calling it "OTs-38 Stechkin" or "Stechkin OTs-38". --Ultimate94ninja (talk) 14:13, 17 September 2021 (EDT)
