Please help ID this revolver. Colt Double Action? --Ben41 (talk) 19:03, 5 March 2013 (EST)

I can't be a Colt. It's got a S&W-style cylinder release. If we're assuming they didn't use anachronistic guns, a S&W or a Charter Arms? --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:09, 5 March 2013 (EST)
It almost looks like there used to be adjustable sights, but they were removed. --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:09, 5 March 2013 (EST)
I looked at every single revolver on IMFDB, which wasn't easy, since there is no gallery for them. I could not find any weapon that even came close. --Elzzupa (talk) 18:09, 5 March 2013 (PST)
Its definitely a Röhm, I think an RG-38:

That's a bit embarrassing, I should've known that. I actually own one of those damned things. --Funkychinaman (talk) 08:41, 6 March 2013 (EST)

Most of the Colts are actually Smith & Wessons. Hackman is shown with a 4 inch barreled Smith & Wesson Model 10, while Dafoe is carrying a Smith Model 36 Chief's Special, round butt. The other agents shown are carrying S&Ws also as shown by the Magna grips. As to the deputy's Colt, the Trooper Mk III wasn't in production at the time of the actual events, and it appears the Colt has a lanyard loop, so it is most likely a New Service. The RG-38 is a nice touch; there were a fair number of them in the area at the time. Regards,

Agreed. Want to make the changes? --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:04, 6 March 2013
I'm on top of it, Funky. (EST) --Elzzupa (talk) 14:14, 6 March 2013 (PST)

Not a model 36?

The gun used by Agent Bird is too large for a model 36. It seems to be a square-butt K-frame

FBI Special Agent Bird (Kevin Dunn) also appears to carry a Smith & Wesson 36.

BTW, I think that this actor is not Willem Dafoe (also, I think the revolver is not a model 36, although it's hard to be sure)

Ward with the S&W holstered.

Smith and Wesson model 19?

Is the revolver on the left (supposedly, Deputy Pell's off-duty handgun) a 2.5" S&W model 19?

Deputy Pell surrenders his badge and service revolver.

It is a Colt Python with a 2.5 inch barrel with Herrett style stocks(which were available at the time); the New Service on the right appears to have the early type long ejector rod knob, which would mean it iss of pre WW1 vintage.---Tecolote 18 june 2013
