Is it just me, or is this actually missing the front sight post? --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:37, 2 September 2014 (EDT)

AR-15s

I do not think that this is really a Gilboa rifle:

It has a A1 upper which as far as I know is not on any of the Gilboas, it even has the old style parallel sided handguard slip ring. The design of this upper long pre-dates when Silver Shadow came into existence (1995), so despite the fact it says Gilboa on the lower, I would guess that the upper is one of those old converted 13" barrel "Menusar" carbines which are made from chopped down 603s. It could also be a 14.5" barrel Model 653 (called the "Katsar" in Israel), but I think they tended to have the tapered handguard ring. Is it ever shown better to see what barrel length it has? --commando552 (talk) 09:42, 2 September 2014 (EDT)

Damn rock. is that an XM177 style flash hider? If so, there is too much barrel visible for an XM177E1, but not enough for an XM177E2. Based on the optics choice and Gilboa lowers I was assuming that this was filmed in Israel which is why I was guessing it was a Menusar, however just checked IMDB and says it is filmed in Bulgaria, is that correct? I would probably call this an XM177 mock up, but without seeing the whole of the muzzle device cant decide between an E1 or E2 (I would probably lean towards an E2, as it looks like there might be a grenade ring at the back of the muzzle device). By the way, I believe that the rail on the front of the handguard is a FAB Defense DPR 16/4 rail. Similarly, the railed handguard used on the flat top carbines is a FAB Defense FGR-3. --commando552 (talk) 18:51, 2 September 2014 (EDT)

Im not certain if these are real Gilboas, as all of the 5.56mm Gilboas have a fully railed handguard and a railed gas block. I suppose they could be early versions or something though. However based on the XM177-ish carbine which has a Gilboa lower but not upper, I would be more inclined to guess that these are custom builds that just happen to use a Gilboa lower. Also, is it just me or did anybody think the guy in the second cap was Sullivan Stapleton at first? --commando552 (talk) 18:51, 2 September 2014 (EDT)
Slight change of topic, but is anyone familiar enough with those optics to tell me whether they're on back to front or not? --Euromutt (talk) 17:24, 7 October 2014 (EDT)
It is a Meprolight MEPRO MOR (combined red dot, visible laser and IR laser), and it is the correct way round. --commando552 (talk) 17:36, 7 October 2014 (EDT)
Thank you. --Euromutt (talk) 18:58, 7 October 2014 (EDT)
