This handgun really went through such cruel publicity and exemplifies the ravenous and cruel attitude the system was under Clinton. It's funny because when I was a kid growing up, I never even heard of Bill Clinton or any of this kind of nonsense, yet I starting growing a passion for firearms and the typical cool stuff during the 90s. It is rather overstating the case to blame it all on the Clinton administration. Intratec went bankrupt in 1987 (during the Reagan administration) due to lawsuits from the anti-gun lobby, and from this point on the company starting cutting corners on quality control which gave their products a reputation for jamming and being generally unreliable. The California bill that banned some Intratec products by name was in 1989, so during the Bush Snr. administration. You can still blame the 1994 AWB on Clinton though. In my opinion the real thing that killed Intratec was that they tried to make the guns too cheap and ended up sacrificing too much in terms of quality control. For example, the CAT-9 is actually a pretty sound design, however there were significant problems with the consistency of the polymer frame leading to a large number of guns suffering from severe cracks and defects. You then also had some total marketing mis-steps which didn't help, like claiming that there new surface finish wouldn't take finger prints. --commando552 (talk) 11:40, 23 April 2016 (EDT)

Intratec reminds me way too much of Cobray. They marketed their guns as cheap and usually were either based or ripped of other more higher quality guns. Both companies also had the densest marketing teams, who both thought marketing a gun based on it's infamy or it's capacity to sweep streets wouldn't get them flak in the mess that was the 1990's. Both had cheap and weird designs that probably cost $50 to make and both died in the late 80's. Ian from Forgotten Weapons has covered a few Cobray guns, I've never seen such ill-conceived and poorly though-out weapons. Who thought an open-bolt single-shot shotgun or 12-round .45-70 revolver was a good idea?--Mandolin (talk) 22:28, 23 April 2016 (EDT)
