Talk:Hotline Miami
Are the weapons in his game detailed enough to be eligible? It seems like a bit of a stretch. --Funkychinaman (talk) 07:35, 26 October 2014 (EDT)
Revamping this page
I'm gonna try to fix up this page, as the original page creator hasn't updated it in a while, any help would be lovely. --PaperCake 16:35, 27 April 2014 (EST)
- As I said, I'm not entirely sure this is worth pursuing. There aren't a lot of 8-bit games here for a reason. How do we know that's an M16A2 and not just an M16A1 with a round handguard? Or distinguish between the two shotguns? --Funkychinaman (talk) 16:58, 27 April 2015 (EDT)
Deletion
The guns just aren't clear enough for proper ID. If anyone feels that is not the case, please chime in. --Funkychinaman (talk) 07:57, 29 May 2015 (EDT)

Hotline Miami is a 2012 action game produced by Dennaton games, and released by Devolver Digital. The game was influenced by the films Cocaine Cowboys and Drive. The game is set in 1989 in Miami, Florida and plays as two protagonists, Jacket and Biker, who have been recieving random phonecalls instructing them to commit massacres against the local Russian Mafia. After a couple of missions, things start to get out of hand, as things start to collapse and Jacket starts to question his sanity. The game is unique for it's retro 16-bit style art style, gratuitous gore, synthwave soundtrack and 1-hit kill system for most AI enemies as well as the player.
The following weapons appear in the video game Hotline Miami:
Handguns
Silenced Pistol
The Beretta 92FS is a weapon wielded by the Russian Mafia in the missions Overdose and Deadline, and only appears in weapon spawns. It has an slow rate of fire, but a very high accuracy, it also has a 13 round magazine, and is also the only firearm that can rarely take two shots to kill an enemy.
Smith and Wesson Model 29
Appearing in game as the "Magnum" the M29 has the ability to go through multiple targets, and Six Rounds, the Magnum is the only "Sniper" weapon in the game, however using the Magnum can be considered awkward as it is slightly inaccurate, and it's low round count.
Colt Python
The Colt Python can be seen in the unlock screen for the Smith & Wesson Model 29 "Magnum".
Desert Eagle Mark I
Only appearing at the end of Showdown where the Mafia Pakhan (Godfather) commits suicide with it, it is also used by Jacket to kill Ivan Lebdev (the Old Man)
Due to the reuse of the Magnum soundfile, and it's "chromed sprite" give away that the gun is based on Desert Eagle.
Sub-Machine Guns
Sa. Vz.61 Skorpion
The Sa. Vz.61 Skorpion or Skorpain as the game refers to it, is a fast firing SMG with a 20 round magazine that only appears in Weapon Spawns. It's fast rate of fire and slight innacuracy make it somewhat useful as a room clearer, but it's rather small magazine size in comparison with the other sub-machineguns makes it a bit useless.
Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi is only used by the in-game Waiter enemies and only appears at either Weapon Spawns or the table of guns in the mission Clean Hit. It has a 30 round magazine and a decently fast rate of fire making it a much better choice of weapon over the Skorpion.
MP5
The MP5 is only used by the Police Chief in Assault, and the Pakhan (Godfather) in Showdown and only appears in weapon spawns or the Upstairs suites in the mission Clean Hit. It has a 32 round magazine and is very accurate albeit having a slower fire rate than the Uzi. It is one of the better firearms in the game, though being unlocked near the end.
The MP5 appears to have been based on the MP5SD3 Sub-machine gun, with the fore grip of the MP5k, and a stubby barrel like that of the SP89, The MP5 appearance may have been inspired by the MP5 from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
The Ithaca 37 "Stakeout" model is seen on the weapon unlock screen for the "Shotgun".
Shotgun
Another common gun in the game is the "Shotgun", used by both Russian Mafia members as well as the Miami Police. It holds 6 rounds and has a fairly large size spread, making it rather useful for dealing with some of the more bullet resistant enemies like the thugs. It's design is very generic looking, looking a bit like a Mossberg 500 Cruiser with a sawed off stock.
Double Barrel Shotgun
The Double Barreled Shotgun appears in the game and is only used by the Russian Mafia. It fires much faster than the standard shotgun and has a much wider spread, but is risky to use due to it's 2 round capacity.
Assault Rifles
M16A2
The M16A2 is seen on the weapon unlock screen when you unlock the "Machine Gun", which is actually a Colt Model 733.
Colt Model 733
The Colt Model 733 is one of the most common guns in the game, used by the Russian Mafia, Miami Police and the Miami SWAT Team. It's erroneously called a "Machine Gun" and only holds 24 rounds of ammunition rather than the full 30.
