Talk:Hamilton: I nationens intresse
Please help ID
A Sectragon sniper uses an unidentified suppressed AR-15 variant (a Colt Sporter?) to open fire on Hamilton and Mouna in the woods in Sweden. The rifle seems to have an undetachable carry handle with an older 4-position stock. Hamilton also briefly handles the rifle after he neutralizes the sniper and dumps the weapon's magazine.
More than likely a sporter, it is probably a civilian rifle from the armorer, since all the scenes in sweden involving firearms are either with pistols, which the armorer would have no problem providing or non-firing military weapons, which are probably provided by the military. Scenes filmed outside of sweden would probably involve a different armorer with a different stock of weapons --Iceman (talk) 08:06, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- Maybe a call to Lexne would clear it up? Swedeshooter (talk) 04:39, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
- Maybe this? --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:14, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- ~I agree. Several Colt SP1 Carbines were imported to Sweden during the 1980s. Most SP1s I've seen in Sweden were manufactured in the early '80s. Swedeshooter (talk) 04:39, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
Something I noticed
Hamilton has a US Navy Special Warfare badge (aka, the "Budweiser") on his SDBs (or whatever the Swedish equivalent is called) in Commander Hamilton, but it's missing on the poster of this film. I'm not sure what the Royal Swedish Navy policy on wearing foreign badges is, but the Budweiser is really sticks out due to its size. --Funkychinaman (talk) 20:25, 15 December 2013 (EST)
Its due to the book (I don't know if the author researched it) in the books Hamilton is BUD's graduate, trough exchange program, have never read the books myself have never found an english translation over here, and I don't like to read russian translations, watched the movie in russian though, I think he had the trident, but it was scaled down unlike the old TV mini series (first pic), anyway these films are pretty good, if only there was an english dub --Iceman (talk) 11:27, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- The copy I had was an English dub as well, unfortunately. It did sound like they got the actual stars to dub their own dialogue at least. I'm aware that it's established canon that Hamilton did pass the BUD/S course and is entitled to wear the badge, I was just wondering why it didn't show up in the poster of the new film. One would assume he'd wear it if he's earned it. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:49, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- The story is that Hamilton had to go through BUD/S twice back-to-back to become accepted into the fictional Swedish military intelligence unit OP5. Hence the Budweiser. The author, Jan Guillou, seems to always write his main characters as supermen. Swedeshooter (talk) 05:10, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
The film also had ak5's the new version if I remember correctly, used by naval special forces (if I remember correctly) guarding the island, and one taken by Hamilton, but never used. Or was it the second movie? --Iceman (talk) 13:21, 16 December 2013 (EST)
Great job, I saw both movies some time ago and I remember thinking its a shame they don't have a page, as they are quite good action flicks, with lots of guns. I guess its that they aren't realy popularized outside of sweeden, with mostly unknown cast members. My theory on the missing trident is simply that the visual team wanted a completely black suit to look cool, they probably added the ribbon bar to not look completely civilian, in general those people in most cases don't care about the movie, most posters are just to draw in the audiences. --Iceman (talk) 13:29, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- It looks like the red, white and black ribbon on his fruit salad is the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany he got in The Democratic Terrorist. The wings he has above it appears to be his Swedish special forces wings. --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:29, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- Thanks. I once thought that too, and after Funky made the page for Stormare's Hamilton I watched these again and decided to take action. There's a fight scene near the end of the first one that is really well executed. Reminds me of the fight scene in Bourne Ultimatum between Damon and the assassin in the room with the books and stuff... --Warejaws (talk) 13:38, 16 December 2013 (EST)
Agree on this one, but the Bourne one I don't like too much shaky cam. You missed the EBR though. Edit. Sorry I thought you were going through the rifles as they appear. --Iceman (talk) 17:27, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- Nope, I got it loud and clear (the wip banner is there for a reason). I'll finish the page tomorrow, and add the EBR and the grenades. --Warejaws (talk) 17:39, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- And also the SSG badge above the fruit salad. The SSG badge is the old insignia for the Swedish Särskilda Skyddsgruppen ("Special Protection Group"), which would have been our equivalent to the direct action element of Delta or 22 SAS. It has since been restructured as Särskilda Operationsgruppen ("Special Operations Group" aka SOG) when SSG and Särskilda Inhämtningsgruppen ("Special Reconnaissance Group" aka SIG) was merged into one. Swedeshooter (talk) 05:10, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
- Forgot to mention the fact that the SSG was organized under the Swedish army, whereas Hamilton belongs to the navy. Possibly the SSG badge is worn by all who have served there, kinda like the Swedish parachute eagle badge that is worn by everyone who has passed parachute training. Colt Model 933?
Having seen the movie myself just recently, I took the liberty to add RPG-7 & AKMS and revised all mentions of ‘Pakistani’ to ‘Afghani’ (verified the latter with the DVD subtitles). In addition, there’s one rifle where I would appreciate help for identification. Below rifle is mentioned as M4A1 carbine, but to me the barrel length seems more indicative of the Colt Model 933, what do you guys think? -- PeeWee055 (talk) 13:17, 21 December 2013 (EST)
Could be airsoft m4cqb or something? Could be a Mk, looks like there is something under the f-assist as well. Edit sorry thats the sling ring, which is installed on most airsoft m4's --Iceman (talk) 15:09, 21 December 2013 (EST)
