That's no Smith and Wesson, that my friends is a Merwin and Hulbert Frontier Army possibly a Third Model based on the topstrap, grip shape and 7 inch barrel. There is no knuckle at the top rear of the frame like the Smith and Wesson .44, there is the lanyard nut at the butt of the gun unlike on the Smith except for its military contract, the barrel has no cut out on either side for an ejector rod and goes much too far back to the cylinder for a hand ejector revolver, you can also see the sliding tab which unlocks the barrel and allows for ejection of the spent rounds on the bottom of the frame in the last picture. - Thanks, it's very interesting! The revolver is of this model? Greg-Z (talk) 11:51, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
- Yeah, that's the one. Other than the condition of the now 50 plus year more recent one compared to a relatively newer and well cared for model in the movie they are just about the same. Black Irish Paddy (talk) 12:36, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
