Series title

Something to ponder, I noticed that on Steam and the official site, all the materials refer to the various games as "Arma" rather than (the superior) "ArmA". Should we change the various wikis to match?Temp89 (talk) 16:55, 17 May 2022 (EDT)

the Armed Assault wiki has it as "ARMA Reforger" but it's a bit hard to figure out at this point given that even Bohemia isn't consistent with the abbreviation's capitalization.--AgentGumby (talk) 17:06, 17 May 2022 (EDT)
Well, the name has always been stylized "ArmA" (with both the "r" and "m" also capitalized), but I agree with @AgentGumby's comment that the devs aren't consistent with naming their own material at times. I've encountered several arguments in the community (especially on the official Discord server) about the naming, and for which many insist that the "right" naming is "Arma". Personally I disagree, since I do believe the actual style is "ArmA", or even better - "ARMA", thus we should keep it as "ARMA" here on imfdb. Btw, the logo they showed on the live stream announcement for the 4th title is abbreviated as "ARMA 4". --RaNgeR (talk) 17:20, 17 May 2022 (EDT)
Just to put forward my case, in the box arts and trademarks they use all caps, but in all other materials for A2, 3, Reforger and 4 they use Title Case. https://i.postimg.cc/D0dhNX1Z/asd4.png Temp89 (talk) 18:34, 17 May 2022 (EDT)
In my experience the ESRB is correct when it comes to exact title style nuance (though I'd welcome counter examples) since their listings come directly from the dev/publisher. Their rating (which was actually added the morning before announcement/release) is "Arma Reforger", "Arma 3", "Arma 2", "ARMA II", "ArmA: Combat Operations", and "ARMA Cold War Assault". I'm going with the series going through many style shifts and to avoid changing older ones. It's hardly the first series with this issue (Soul Calibur/Soulcalibur/SoulCalibur/SOULCALIBUR comes to mind) VladVladson (talk)

First draft done

If you have better screens to add, feel free to overwrite. Guessing we leave the WIP tag on until it's out of EA considering there's a strong implication they'll be adding new content? Temp89 (talk) 18:35, 17 May 2022 (EDT)

Yep, it was mentioned (iirc) that more vehicles will be added in the near future, likely they'll feature different weaponry. Not sure about more small arms, though. Thanks for your initial work, btw, I actually was about to begin myself but you beat me to it XD --RaNgeR (talk) 18:53, 17 May 2022 (EDT)
Maybe we could get a variant of the OnGoing template for video games that are still receiving new firearms content outside of paid expansions/DLC? VladVladson (talk) 20:33, 17 May 2022 (EDT)

Depiction of M72A3 LAW - accurate?

From what I could remember, historically speaking; the U.S. military replaced the M72 LAW in favor of the M136 AT4 during the early 1980s. Yet again, during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the military reissued M72s because of various reasons. So technically, since Arma Reforger is set in 1989, wouldn't the M136 be more accurate? Please correct me if I'm wrong and educate me on this one. If it IS correct, then a sentence on this bit should be added in the main page for the in-game M72 description, I believe. --RaNgeR (talk) 19:38, 23 May 2022 (EDT)

You're right the AT4 would be more accurate, as it became the 'standard' well by the time this game takes place. However I'd say it's certainly not impossible there were probably still some LAWs scattered about in inventory. StanTheMan (talk) 21:34, 23 May 2022 (EDT)
In Operation Flashpoint, Everon is supposed to be a sleepy, isolated, posting not really prepared for combat before the Soviets invade. If anywhere has obsolete equipment that's not quite phased out in stock, its here. VladVladson (talk) 21:46, 23 May 2022 (EDT)
