Talk:Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
The following weapons appear in the video game Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War:
Beretta 92F
Colonel Orson Perrault can be seen carrying a Beretta 92F as his sidearm, using it to shoot at the main characters as they run from his office after being falsely branded as traitors, but misses. Another one is used by Kei Nagase when downed, Nagase being shown holding it on one of her Yuktobanian pursuers after having managed to turn the tables and capture them. She is later seen again with it when hiding from Sand Island guards prior to escaping from the base. Interestingly, when Perrault fires his Beretta, he only fires six shots before his weapon clicks empty.
M16A1 Rifle
Sand Island Base guards can be seen armed with M16A1 rifles with A2 handguards and what seem to be 40-round magazines when the protagonists make their escape after being branded traitors by the base commander. They open fire on the protagonists as they're making their escape in commandeered trainer jets, but are unable to score any significant hits. During the opening cutscene describing the war that took place 15 years prior to the events of the game (shown in greater detail in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War), soldiers fighting in the war against Belka can be seen armed with M16A1's as well.
M61 Vulcan
The M61 Vulcan appears as the secondary armament of many (but not all) playable fighters in the game including the F-4E & F-4X Phantom II, F-14A & F-14B Tomcat, F-14D Super Tomcat, F-15C Eagle, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-15S/MTD Eagle, F-16C & F-16XL Fighting Falcon, Mitsubishi F-2A, F/A-18C Hornet, F/A-18E Super Hornet, E/A-18G Growler, F-22A Raptor, FB-22 Strike Raptor, YF-23 Black Widow II, and the fictional X-02 Wyvern.
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1
The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 appears in the game as the secondary weapon on several playable aircraft, including the MiG-29A Fulcrum, MiG-1.44, Su-27 Flanker, Su-32 Fullback, Su-35 Flanker-E, Su-37 Flanker-F, and Su-47 Berkut.
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23
The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23 appears in the game as the secondary armament of the MiG-21bis Fishbed, and the upgraded version, the MiG-21-93.
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-23
The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-23 appears in the game as the secondary armament of the MiG-31 Foxhound, and the upgraded version, the MiG-31M.
GAU-8/A Avenger
The General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger appears in the game as the secondary armament of the A-10A Thunderbolt II and YA-10B (an experimental 2-seater version of the A-10).
GAU-22/A
The GAU-22/A appears in the game as the secondary armament of the F-35C Lightning II fighter.
Pontiac M39
The Pontiac M39 appears in the game as the secondary armament of the F-5E Tiger II which is the first aircraft the player uses in the game, as well as the unlockable F-20A Tigershark and X-29A.
Mauser BK-27
The Mauser BK-27 appears in the game as the secondary weapon of the Eurofighter Typhoon and all variants of the Tornado, including the GR-1, GR-4, ADS, IDS, F-3, and ECR.
ADEN Cannon
The ADEN cannon appears in the game as the secondary armament of computer controlled Sea Harriers the player will encounter in some missions, along with the playable Hawk T1A (mounted in an external pod under the aircraft).
DEFA Cannon
The DEFA cannon appears in the game as the secondary armament of the Mirage 2000 fighter. In the level "Reprisal", the player is forced to fly a Mirage with only the cannons as offensive armament when countering a terrorist attack on Bana City in Osea.
GIAT 30
The GIAT 30 appears in the game as the secondary weapon of the Rafale M and Rafale B fighters.
M230 Chain Gun
The M230 chain gun appears in the game as a secondary armament on computer-controlled AH-64 Apache helicopters.
FIM-92A Stinger
In the level "Powderkeg", the protagonists are engaged by Yuktobanian soldiers armed with FIM-92A Stinger missiles using the thick jungle below as cover. While not visible save for the incoming missiles, in-game radio chatter among the Yuktobanians confirms the model being used.
Phalanx CIWS
The Phalanx CIWS appears in the game as a defensive weapon on the Osean aircraft carriers Kestrel, Vulture, and Buzzard. It is seen most clearly in a cutscene being fired in a futile attempt to engage incoming anti-ship cruise missiles that strike and ultimately sink the Kestrel. In the level "Narrow Margin", sailors on an Osean warship attempt to engage Yuktobanian missiles with Phalanx fire, belatedly realising their counter-fire is hitting the docks.
