The Smith & Wesson 622 is a pistol in .22 Long Rifle calibre designed primarily for sports and recreational purposes. It has an alloy frame and a stainless steel slide, as opposed to the completely stainless steel variants Model 2206, Model 2213 (3" barrel) and Model 2214 (blued with 3" barrel).
The blued variant of the Model 622 is called Model 422 and has been in production 1987 – 1996. In 1996 a supposed successor model was produced, Model 622-VR, but production seized already that same year. This model is characterized by a strongly accentuated ventilated rib.
