(S03E10) Electro Muscular Disruption weapons In season four, the ARC program is restructured and most of the weapons used by the ARC teams are retired to the armory and replaced with a fictional weapon series referred to as Electro Muscular Disruption weapons, or "EMD" for short (the EMD props appear to be built out of some sort of power tool, possibly a nail gun). The exact mechanics of these weapons are not elaborated on, but they are described as being similar in concept to a Taser in that their primary effect is to administer a strong electrical shock to whatever they hit. EMD shots also appear to have a kinetic effect on targets, as smaller creatures hit by an EMD are often sent reeling from the impact and the shots are capable of ricocheting off of flat metal surfaces. The power of each shot is widely adjustable, and there are four different EMD configurations seen in the show. All EMDs are outfitted with flashlights while in the field.
EMD Pistol The smallest EMD variant is a basic pistol configuration, and is frequently used by both Abby (Hannah Spearritt ) and Connor (Andrew Lee Potts ) in place of their pistols from the previous seasons.
