Munich 72 is a 2011 German television film directed by Dror Zahavi that re-enacts the hostage drama during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. It was first broadcast on ZDF on March 19, 2012. Munich 1972: The hosting of the Olympics is supposed to show the world a new, different Germany: the spirit of Munich - cosmopolitan, relaxed and free. But then the unthinkable happens: In the early morning hours of September 5, Palestinian terrorists enter the Olympic Village and storm the Israeli team's quarters. Only a short time later, security forces find a dead Israeli. The rest of the team is in the hands of men who apparently have nothing to lose.
