Memories
Memories is a three-part anthology film from Katsuhiro Otomo (the director of Akira and Steamboy) consisting of three separate stories; Magnetic Rose, Stink Bomb, and Cannon Fodder.
Magnetic Rose is a sci-fi story about the discovery of a Mary Celeste-like spacecraft in a space graveyard, adrift and seemingly abandoned. It contains no real firearms.
Stink Bomb is a comical story of a hapless lab technician who, mistaking experimental pills for cold medicine, becomes a living weapon of mass destruction. He finds himself the target of increasingly excessive attacks from the JGSDF as he tries to escape the contamination, unaware that he himself is the source.
Cannon Fodder is a day in the life of a family in a dystopian city-state where all activities revolve around the firing of gigantic artillery guns at an unseen and quite possibly non-existent "moving city" hidden behind a bank of mist. While weapons that appear are based on real-life railroad guns, it contains no personal firearms.
The following weapons were used in Stink Bomb segment of the anime film anthology Memories:
Sumitomo M2HB
Several Sumitomo M2HB machine guns are seen mounted on Type 90 Kyū-maru tanks.
General Dynamics M197 Vulcan
Several General Dynamics M197 Vulcan Gatling cannons are seen mounted on Bell AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters.
Phalanx CIWS
A Phalanx CIWS is seen mounted on a JMSDF warship.
Oerlikon Contraves 25mm KBA cannon
Several Type 87 armored reconnaissance vehicles are seen equipped with Oerlikon Contraves KBAs manufactured under license by Japan Steel Works.
Oerlikon 35mm twin cannon
JGSDF dispatches at least one Type 87 SPAAG ("Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun"), which is built around the Oerlikon 35mm twin cannon.
Howa Type 89
The soldiers deployed by the JGSDF carry Howa Type 89 rifles.
Remington M24 Sniper Rifle
A JGSDF sniper is seen using a Remington M24 sniper rifle with a wooden stock and a mirage band.
