Korovin TK
The Korovin TK (Tula, Korovin - design of Korovin made in Tula) was the first Soviet-made semiautomatic pistol. This pistol was intended for sporting and civilian use. Most of these pistols were issued as self-defense weapons for some officers of the Red Army and important officials of the Communist party and Soviet government, or were used as gifts or awards for various achievements. Actually created as a replacement for the officer's Nagant M1895, the TK suffered from a noticeably weak round, and unlike the revolver, was, with similar dimensions, more of a status symbol than a real combat weapon, so much so that some treated it more like a toy. As a result, the much more powerful TT-30 was eventually adopted a few years later. A small number of TKs were still used by officers of all ranks in the early years of WWII, although they were always replaced on the battlefield when possible by the TT or other, more powerful pistols. Later, the remaining army TKs were transferred to the reserve, and did not see any notable service.
