In the Shooting Solitude (V strelyayushchey glushi)
|
In the Shooting Solitude (V strelyayushchey glushi) is a 1986 (filmed 1985) historical adventure movie directed by Vladimir Khotinenko. The story is set in 1918, during the Russian Civil war. A Red Army soldier Fyodor Krokhov (Sergey Koltakov) comes to a small village with a mission to persuade local peasants to supply grain to Soviets. Krokhov is opposed by a village richman Mokiy Zhlobin (Ivan Agafonov) who has hidden his harvest. While many locals follow Zhlobin, some support Krokhov, notably a local self-made mechanic and inventor Grigoriy (Viktor Smirnov). At last Krokhov manages not only to find the hidden grain but also to defend the village against bandits.
The following weapons were used in the film In the Shooting Solitude (V strelyayushchey glushi):
Revolvers
Nagant M1895
White Army officer (Aleksey Maslov) carries a Nagant M1895 revolver. A Nagant is also used by Zhlobin Jr. (Sergey Vlasov).
Reichsrevolver M1883
A Reichsrevolver M1883 is used by a bandit Prokhor (Nikolai Alekseyev). Possibly same prop is seen on several other Sverdlovsk Film Studio 1980s-1990s productions, like Dom na dyunakh and Bolshoe zoloto mistera Grinvuda.
Pistols
Mauser C96
A Mauser C96 (Wartime Commercial model, identified by the lack of a hole in the safety lever knob) belongs to Zhlobin Jr. (Sergey Vlasov). The pistol is taken from him by Grigoriy (Viktor Smirnov) who later trades it for Krokhov's (Sergey Koltakov) Karabiner 98k rifle.

Rifles
Mauser Karabiner 98k
Fyodor Krokhov (Sergey Koltakov) carries a Karabiner 98k rifle, anachronistic for 1918 (it can stand for such appropriate short Mauser rifles as Karabiner 98AZ). The only strange detail of this rifle is a straight bolt handle but in all other respects it matches 98k. Later Krokhov trades his rifle for Grigoriy's (Viktor Smirnov) Mauser C96.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
One of the bandits holds an out of time Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine.
Mosin Nagant Rifle
A full length Mosin Nagant rifle of unclear model is seen in one scene.
Mosin Nagant "Obrez"
Sawed-off Mosin Nagant "obrez" are seen in hands of local Soviet activists Dmitriy ("Mitriy") Hromov (Sergei Parshin) and Sergey ("Seryoga") Lomov (Sergey Garmash), and of bandits, including Mokiy Kuzmich Zhlobin (Ivan Agafonov). Several different "obrez" are seen; most likely they are made of M38 Carbines.
