Hard Truck 2 (titles of subsequent editions: Rig'n'Roll, King of the Road. Original title: Дальнобойщики 2, "Truckers 2") is a video game in the genre of a truck driver simulator with elements of economic strategy, developed by SoftLab-NSK studio (in 1998 - 1999) and published in 2000. Virtual World Inventor is used as the game engine. In 2003, a second edition was released.
The action takes place in a fictional region of Russia (partially inspired by Altai), with a varied terrain from the middle lane to snowy passes and desert. It is worth noting that in the English-language release, the names of the settlements were changed, and the police cars/helicopters were repainted from white & blue to white & black, while the lore of the game itself remained the same.
The plot tells the story of a driver who arrives in a new region in his truck to try his luck. Player must transport cargo on various vehicles in order to accumulate a budget to open their own enterprise and gain control over freight market (become a monopolist). For these purposes, it is required to hire hired workers. But not everything is so simple - the game takes place at the turn of the 90s and 2000s, which means that bandits can attack you. If you start resisting, your money/cargo will may be taken away from you, or even blown up by a mine or shot. Despite the fact that the police keep order, many of them are also corrupt.
Unlike all other games related to the series, in Hard Truck 2, weapons are actively featured.
The following weapons appear in the video game Hard Truck 2:
M1911-series Pistol
In the case of a robbery of a player by bandits, in a playing cutscene, a nickel-plated custom M1911-series pistol is appears. This has the most similarities with the Springfield Armory Omega, with a long slide, a perforated hammer, and wooden grips.
AK-47
The AK-47-type rifle is seen being used by the bandits in the intro. While this does not appear in the gameplay itself due to the understandable limitations of the game, both bandits and the police can open full auto fire, which apparently refers to this weapon (which, in turn, is logical for setting the location of the game).
Shipunov 2A42
A Ka-50 "Black Shark" helicopter appears in the game. It is worth noting that it is a fictional police model, that does not have missile and bomb weapons, but carries a pair of the Shipunov 2A42 autocannons (instead of one as in reality). The Ka-50s will not be slow to use them, if the player reaches the maximum wanted level. Another reason for this will be the player's attempt to break through the mountain pass roadblock to the remote base "Almaznyi" (GreyStone in the English version) where the diamond plant is located, without an appropriate permitting contract.
Land Mines
Landmines are used by bandits in the event that the player ignores their demands of stop. They appear on the road and can contact all vehicles.
Trivia
Unknown Pistol
Some reports of police fines show a picture of a British police officer with an unknown holstered pistol (however, it is logical to assume that this is most likely a Glock 17). Curiously, in later Russian versions this was changed to look like the uniform of the Russian police.
Unknown Guns
Another report shows two police officers, one with an unknown holstered pistol and the other with a pump-action shotgun, although this cannot be accurately identified.
