The thumbhole stock was replaced by an aftermarket pistol grip (of the original AK-pattern) and to the rear tang was attached a wooden block (with ring for gun belt). One can still see the 'ground down' bottom of the front sight, which was mandated by ATF when it approved the MAK-90 for import. Frank and Roxy use this during the finale. It is worth noting that, it seems, two different rifles in the same configuration were used, since they are slightly different from each other.
