Geobreeders (1998, also known as File X: Get Back the Kitty) and Geobreeders: Breakthrough (2000, also known as File XX: Breakthrough) are two OVA series based on Akihiro Ito's on-going manga of the same name. The story depicts members of Kagura Total Security as they fight against the Phantom Cats. Kagura's main business rival is the Hound, a secret government paramilitary organization under the control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (since pest and animal control are part of the Ministry's mandates).
Phantom Cats are mystical beings capable of taking both human and feline forms as well as manipulating all form of electronic signals. This ability makes the cats master of information manipulation. Physical attack against the cats in human form will not permanently harm them as the cats have the ability to regenerate in human form. The Hound's equipped with special EM field generators that, when deployed, can neutralized Phantom Cats' abilities such as regeneration or escape through telephone lines. In order to eradicate them, Cats needs to be "sealed" using specially designed talisman or other devices.
The OVA storylines are considered canon and are incorporated into the main manga story.
The following weapons are seen in the anime Geobreeders and it's sequel Geobreeders: Breakthrough

Smith & Wesson Model 60
Two Smith & Wesson Model 60 revolvers were used by Maki and Indigo Shooting Star during their final failed duel attempt.
SEAL operators disguised as mailman, delivery man and vegetable vendor raided Kagura's office with Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW submachine guns. The PDW stocks are removed for better concealment.
Indigo Shooting Star uses a Sterling Patchett Suppressed version submachine gun when attacking Kagura's van on the freeway in Breakthrough. When she runs out of ammo, she simply discards the Sterling and picks up another.
The old man who takes the Kagura crew in during Breakthrough keeps a stash of Soviet weapons under his living room tatami, which include at least two PPSh-41 submachine guns. Kagura company president Yuka Kikushima uses one during the fire fight.
The SIG SG 551 assault rifle is the standard assault weapon of Hound. During Hound's assault on the DDK building, some of the SG 551s are fitted with tactical lights or laser aiming devices.
In a continuity error, Indigo Shooting Star's primary weapon switches from a M4A1 to a M16A1 (also fitted with a M203 grenade launcher) during the fire fight in the old man's house,.
Indigo Shooting Star uses a Walther WA 2000 sniper rifle in her first attempt to take out Maki, intentionally shooting Maki's hat off and rupturing the gas line of Kagura's office. The ruptured gas line causes an explosion when Yu lights a cigarette.
During the SEALs raid on Kagura's office, Maki pulled out a Lahti L-39 anti-tank rifle, but was unable to use it due to the AH-1W's 20mm suppressive fire. In order to increase her firepower, she modified the L-39 to accept a drum magazine and turned it into a makeshift heavy machine gun, which was considered reckless by the employee at the machine shop of "Ayagane Marui" where she finished her modification. The English DVD incorrectly translated it as "Ratti machine gun".
In a final attempt to kill Maki, Indigo Shooting Star uses a Accuracy International AW50F anti-materiel rifle to shoot the natural gas pipe line near the hot spring where Umezaki was taking a bath, and the gas is ignited by Yu's cigarette.
Hound's Barracuda (a modified V-22 Osprey) is armed with at least one GE M134 minigun. During the attack on the DDK building, the M134 is used to destroy the water tanks on top of the building to stop the sprinkler system.
A Browning M2 heavy machine gun is seen mounted on top of the turret a JGSDF Type 90 tank stolen by the Cats. Hound also deploy M2 machine guns on their personnel transports (disguised as garbage trucks) during the attack on the DDK building.
A disguised USMC AH-1W Super Cobra uses its General Dynamics M197 Vulcan 20mm gun to cover the SEAL team's extraction. Maki and Eiko Rando identified it as the "20mm Vulcan". In the US DVD release it was incorrectly translated as "20mm Balkan".
The USMC AV-8B Harriers IIs seen are armed with GAU-12 25mm gun pods. A Harrier hijacked by the Cats is used to shoot down two other Harriers and strafe the Hounds.
Hound uses modified Heckler & Koch HK69A1 grenade launchers to fire special grenades that allow them to seal the Phantom Cats. HK69A1s are also used to fire smoke grenades.
A RPG-7 can be seen in Maki's office locker but is destroyed by the AH-1W's 20mm fire before it can be used. Several Phantom Cats are also armed with RPG-7s mounted with PGO-7 scope during the attack on the DDK building.
Kagura employee Takami Sakuragi's weapon of choice is a balisong (butterfly knife) with a M67 hand grenade attached to it. Several grenades were used as makeshift explosive to destroy the Nadyenka's engine.
