Fargo (1996)
Fargo is the 1996 neo-noir comedy crime film directed by the Coen Brothers and starring Frances McDormand as the police chief of a small town who finds herself having to investigate a series of homicides while dealing with her own pregnancy. The film would be nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and McDormand would receive the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film. Fargo would also spawn a 2014 FX television series adaptation.

Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Brainerd Chief of Police Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 36 in a shoulder holster modified to accommodate her pregnancy. She uses it to shoot a fleeing Gaear in the leg after she catches him shoving the remains of Carl into a woodchipper at the lake.
Smith & Wesson Model 19
Wade Gustafson (Harve Presnell) takes what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 19 to the confrontation with Carl in Minneapolis. During the confrontation, Wade also uses the revolver. In a continuity error during the lake confrontation scene, Marge can be also seen holding what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 19.
Smith & Wesson Model 28
A Minnesota State Trooper who Gaear and Carl confront during a traffic stop appears to have a Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver holstered.
Colt Lawman
The police officers (appearing to be either North Dakota State Police or North Dakota Highway Patrol) who come to arrest Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) in Bismarck during the finale are armed with Colt Lawman MK III revolvers. They can be identified as Lawmans and not older Colts such as the Official Police by the length and width of the hammer and the short ramp-style front sight.
Pistols
SIG-Sauer P226
Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) and Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi) use a nickel-plated SIG-Sauer P226 throughout the movie. Gaear uses it during a confrontation with the state trooper and the two teens outside of Brainerd. Carl later uses it during a confrontation with Wade Gustafson in Minneapolis. Whenever the SIG is actually fired, a SIG-Sauer "Non Gun" is used.
SIG-Sauer "Non-Gun"
As mentioned previously, the SIG-Sauer "Non-Gun" is used in almost all scenes where the nickel SIG-Sauer P226 is actually fired by the kidnappers. This is most likely due to the extremely close proximity at which Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi tend to use the weapon when firing at other actors; in such circumstances, blanks would be too dangerous.
