F Troop is a satirical comedy set in the American West and involving the personnel of F Troop, stationed at the fictional Fort Courage; the Hekawi, a peaceful tribe of Native Americans residing in a nearby village; and occassionally the Shug, an antagonistic tribe of Native Americans. Slapstick comedy is on display in most episodes, with the principal cast performing many of their own stunts. The show is set some time near or after the end of the American Civil War. Great liberties with the timeline are taken by the show's writers; in one episode, Abraham Lincoln is still the President (1865), while in another episode, General Custer has recently lost the Battle of the Little Bighorn (1876). Regardless, many of the firearms used in the show are anachronistic.

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series F Troop:

Revolvers

Single Action Army Cavalry Model

Capt. Parmenter (Ken Berry), Sgt. O'Rourke (Forrest Tucker), Cpl. Agarn (Larry Storch), troopers, and Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson) carry Single Action Army "Cavalry" model revolvers throughout Season 1. Sgt. Crawford (James Griffith) is seen with a "Cavalry" model in one episode.
